Dear Falcon Families,
It’s hard to believe, but this week marks six weeks since school started. This week also marks the end of the first grading period. The end of the first six weeks is a progress report, and not the final grade for the semester. It is still early in the semester and there are two grading periods left in the semester, which ends December 20th. If you are seeing signs that your student is struggling in a certain subject, please follow up with your student’s teacher and encourage your student to take advantage of a teacher’s tutoring times, on campus peer tutoring, and SR6 (Saturday School) sessions, especially if they have tardies or absences to recover. Students who pursue these opportunities to improve their grades and self- advocate, set themselves up for growth and success throughout the year.
To be sure you are able to see your student’s grades and receive other important information from the district’s digital document delivery system, please remember to (1) verify the digital document email address is up-to-date in PowerSchool, and (2) ensure you are opted into digital document delivery. See below for more information on how to navigate the Parent/Student Powerschool Portal.
On October 10th, we will host our annual “What I Wish My Parents Knew” event, sponsored by our SRHS Foundation. This powerful experience offers insight into the issues our teens face today, and helps in identifying resources for those issues. Please see below for specific details.
Our Weekly College Series, presented by our Scripps Ranch Foundation, continues this week. Please see below for details and encourage your students to stop in and gain powerful insight into a wide variety of college opportunities.
The Scripps Ranch Foundation, composed of our Falcon families, exists to provide a variety of supports for our students. The 2024-2025 Pledge Drive is open and accepting donations and pledges. Please see below for more information on how to help support our schools.
This week’s updates include information about the end of the grading period, ongoing College series, and our upcoming “What I Wish My Parents Knew” event, in addition to reminders from counseling and a list of upcoming important dates from the administration and ASB, and more. See details below. Homecoming is one week closer and dance tickets are now on sale! The Homecoming game is on October 4th and the dance is October 5th. Please remind your students to show their school spirit and check out all the fun events SRHS has to offer.

Those teachers who are offering revision/reassessment opportunities will have communicated with their students. We encourage all students who have scheduled revision/reassessment opportunities to take advantage of this time to hone their learning.
End of Grading Period
Friday, September 20th, marked the end of Progress Report 1 (P1) grading period. Teachers will post grades to be available via PowerSchool on Friday, September 27th. These grades are a formative progress report and do not represent a final summative semester grade. The final summative grading period for semester one closes on December 20th.

Letters this year will be sent out every other month, direct from the district, beginning the first week in October. Only students whose attendance is “Nearly Chronically Absent” or “Chronically Absent” will receive a letter. (Chronically Absent is when a student misses 10% or more of the school days; Nearly Chronically Absent: 8% - 10%) Letters will be issued electronically to parents if they have provided an email address during enrollment. Families that we do not have an email address on file in PowerSchool will be provided a hardcopy.
A Message From The SRHS Foundation - Reminder
The SRHS Foundation is comprised of Falcon families dedicated to enhancing the educational experience at Scripps Ranch High School by providing financial and service support for academic and facilities programs that lack sufficient funding.
Our Pledge Drive is in full swing. These funds help pay for your kids' education, including science experiments, college/career series, school safety, academic materials, and so much more. Visit www.SRHSFoundation.org to contribute.
LCFF Parent Notification - Reminder
Every year we are required by the State of California to collect income data from our families. This data helps to determine our Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) funding from the state. Here are some important reasons we ask for this information:
-
Some students get fee waivers/reductions for college applications and AP exams, and families may get lower-cost internet service
-
SUN Bucks — (Summer–EBT) provides $40 per month per student for food for June, July, and August 2024 ($120 total). Cards will be issued in the fall.
It is critical that we collect this data from every family to ensure our school receives all the state funding to which it is entitled. Parents need to only fill out the LCFF via one of the options below:
-
Option 1: In the next several weeks, the district will roll out a Survey Monkey link to the LCFF form. The link will be provided via email from [email protected]t via SurveyMonkey.com
-
Option 2: Families will also have the option to complete this form in PowerSchool Parent Portal (Click here to sign into PowerSchool Parent Portal). Families who submitted the LCFF form this past spring will not receive the email.
The LCFF online form is available on the Parent Portal only, it is not on the student’s portal.
If you do not have access to the Parent Portal, please complete the: Scripps Ranch High School Parent Portal Access Request Form to receive an access ID and password for your student(s).
That’s all for today. Enjoy the remainder of your Sunday!
Sincerely,
Matt Lawson, Ed.D
Principal
