SRHS Weekly Updates as of 4-20-25
Posted on 04/20/2025

Dear Falcon Families,

This week we finished our annual CAASPP and CAST testing. Make up testing, for students who were absent, will begin this week. AP testing will begin May 5th. Our students and teachers continue to work hard, preparing to represent SRHS with some outstanding AP scores again this year. Please remind your students that we have approximately four weeks left of the school year. Encourage them to review their grades and follow up with their teachers if they need tutoring or have questions about their grades.

Spring sports playoffs are beginning! Athletic Director, Todd Wilson, will post those playoff schedules ASAP on our athletic website https://srfalcons.org/. Best of luck to all of our Spring athletes as they finish off their respective seasons!

On Saturday, our award winning music program made us proud. Our SRHS orchestra participated in the San Diego Unified School showcase, performing at Rady’s Shell. A big shout out to Mr. Shedd and his amazing musicians. At the San Diego Junior Model United Nations Conference last week, several students won awards and recognition. Congratulations to Mr. Selby and his students.

Last week, your 9th - 11th grade students received their “Continuing Student Packets.” Please see below for more information on returning this important paperwork.

This week we will have the return of our Wednesday College Series. On Wednesday, April 23th, Students can go to the library during lunch to see 28 amazing universities. See details below.

Please save the date (Friday, April 25th!) for our annual Visual Arts Festival. Bring your own chair and blanket and come out to see art installations, photography work, shorts films and more! Our Improv team will be performing and the No Place for Hate club will present the Upstander contest entries. The BSU is selling food and we’ll have a Filipino Food Truck for the event as well! See below for more information and a link to the festival website.

This week’s updates include information about the CAASPP and CAST makeups, the Wednesday College Series, the upcoming WACAC College Fair, AP Testing starting May 5th, SRHS Attendance reminders (especially important since senior activities are coming up!), Graduation Information, the SD Bike Coalition information, and more.

Bullying/Report a Concern Link - Reminder

For instances of bullying or to report a concern, please use this Bullying Report Link; the link is also posted at the very bottom of our school website. You will then select “Report Bullying.” The very first question asks “Is your concern about the conduct of an employee?”  If the answer is yes, it will direct you to a different form. Prior to filing a report, we ask that you review the district’s best practices for resolving concerns, which starts at addressing the concern directly at the site level. Once reports are submitted they are received by the district’s Office of Investigations, Compliance & Accountability (ICA). A member of their team will reach out to you to confirm receipt and ask any pertinent questions. Ultimately the report will be directed to the site-level authority for resolution.

That’s all for today. Have a great rest of your Sunday.

Sincerely,

Matt Lawson, Ed.D

Principal
