SRHS Weekly Updates as of 4-27-25
Posted on 04/27/2025

Dear Falcon Families,

We are entering the last four full weeks of school, with the end of the semester quickly approaching. We hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather and getting ready for some fun summer plans. To be sure students finish the year strong, please encourage them to talk to their teachers and take advantage of tutoring hours, SR6 opportunities, and other resources available on campus.

Our athletes continue to amaze as we continue the CIF playoff season for spring sports. Be sure to visit the website for schedules, and then come out to support our Falcons: https://srfalcons.org/. Best of luck to all our spring athletes as they finish their respective seasons. Our final Falcon Playhouse production of the year will open May 15th; visit Falconplayhouse.com for showtimes and ticket information.

We are excited to announce that the Falcon Nest reopened last week and students now have easier access to a “grab and go” lunch. In addition, our JROTC had their annual inspection last week, doing very well! The Visual Arts Festival was held on Friday, April 25th; congratulations to all the film makers, the Improv performers, the artists, and the photographers for all the wonderful work they presented! We also held the WACAC College Fair on Saturday, with great success. Thank you to the SRHS Foundation for making this event possible another year.

Yearbooks are here and will be distributed soon! Please see below for distribution and (limited) purchase information.

AP Testing starts Monday, May 5th. To accommodate testing, the library will be closed until May 16th. Students can go to the textbook room to take care of any library business (Chromebooks, return books, etc.).

Below you will find reminders about yearbook distribution, the SD Bike Coalition Day (May 15th), upcoming SR6 opportunities, graduation information, and much more!

Counseling Updates

The district will be accepting late summer school applications. If your student earned a D or F in a class that is needed for graduation, OR  thinks they may earn a D or F in a class needed for graduation this semester, they should submit a summer school application to their SRHS counselor. On May 19th the SRHS counselors will be sending late applications to the summer school host sites. Click here for more information about summer school.  Applications can be picked up in the counseling office or can be printed out at home using a link on the summer school webpage.

From your SRHS Registrar: Seniors, click here if you applied to a school that is NOT part of the Common Application (e.g., CSU, UC, individual college application, etc.) and need to request your partial / midyear / progress transcript or progress report (9th grade - first semester of senior year) to be sent by your high school.

Great Leadership Program Opportunity For Students

The San Diego Youth Leadership Conference (SDYLC) is a patriotic education program founded by the Military Order of The World Wars and supported by the National Sojourners, Inc., Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership, and Joe Foss Institute organizations. The purpose of the Youth Leadership Conference is to help prepare selected students for leadership roles in their respective schools. Additionally, the students will receive education on material that is not normally addressed in today’s school system. The 2025 SDYLC will be conducted June 23 - June 26, 2025, and will be held at the University of San Diego (USD) campus. (The conference is not sponsored by the University of San Diego and the views expressed at the conference are not supported or endorsed by the University of San Diego.) This cost is $500 however all students selected would receive a scholarship so there is no cost to attend if selected.

The opportunity is ideal for ASB and JROTC leadership development. Applications must be received by May 1, 2025, please send all applications directly to Ted Parsons at [email protected] or to Col. Swann at [email protected]

2025-26 LCFF Income Survey

San Diego Unified is launching the 2025-26 LCFF data collection on April 28 and will be using PowerSchool Parent Portal and SurveyMonkey. Parents may submit a response via either method, and note that an email from “[email protected] via surveymonkey.com” is legitimate. If you have questions, please contact the main office.

Bullying/Report a Concern Link - Reminder

For instances of bullying or to report a concern, please use this Bullying Report Link; the link is also posted at the very bottom of our school website. You will then select “Report Bullying.” The very first question asks “Is your concern about the conduct of an employee?”  If the answer is yes, it will direct you to a different form. Prior to filing a report, we ask that you review the district’s best practices for resolving concerns, which starts at addressing the concern directly at the site level. Once reports are submitted they are received by the district’s Office of Investigations, Compliance & Accountability (ICA). A member of their team will reach out to you to confirm receipt and ask any pertinent questions. Ultimately the report will be directed to the site-level authority for resolution.

That’s all for today. Have a great rest of your Sunday.

Sincerely,

Matt Lawson, Ed.D

Principal
