SRHS Weekly Updates as of 8-10-25
Posted on 08/11/2025

Dear Falcon Families,

We are thrilled to welcome our Falcons tomorrow, as we officially begin the 2025-2026 school year!

I would like to thank all our staff, families, and students for their incredible hard work preparing, organizing and setting up the school year. Their efforts make it possible for our students to arrive on campus ready to begin the school year successfully. We encourage all our Falcon Families to be active, engaged participants in their students’ education. This way, we can all work together to create a positive, rewarding learning community. As students prepare for the first day, they should check their PowerSchool Student Portal to see their schedule and classes. Our administration, counseling, and other staff will be available and circulating campus before school, and during the passing periods, to help students find their classes and to answer any questions.

To celebrate the beginning of a new school year, we will begin the day with a Welcome Back pep rally in the quad. Instead of reporting to their first period to begin the school day, students should report to the quad area at 8:35am. At the conclusion of the pep rally, students will report to their first period class. Please share this information with your students.

Below you will find instructions on how to access the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Please note your student might have a new counselor this year. Visit the counseling website for more information. And finally, don’t forget to mark your calendars for “Back to School” night on August 27th (more information coming soon). We are eager to meet our Falcon Families!

As a continuing reminder, every Monday is a Modified Monday, with school dismissal at 2:29pm. The early dismissal makes it possible for students to create opportunities for follow up with teachers regarding grade restoration, reassessments, and other things. Please have your student review their teachers’ individual schedules in order to plan a meeting with their teachers when needed.

Today’s update includes reminders about the pep rally schedule, the bell schedule, where to park and drop off, our Week of Welcome, the attendance procedures, PowerSchool Parent Portal access, updates to the school menu, and more. Senior families, please be sure to bookmark the senior page on our website (updates in progress) so you and your senior do not miss any critical deadlines or events this year. Welcome back, Falcon Families! Thank you for your continued support. See below for the latest updates as of 8-10-25.

Bell Schedule - Reminder

See the Falcon Time Schedule 2025-26 for this year’s bell schedule. During “Modified Mondays,” school will begin at 8:35am and end at 2:29pm.

Directions for the First Day of School August 11 - Reminder

The first day of school is Monday, August 11. We’ll begin the school year with a fun pep rally so students should meet in the quad before the first bell rings. After the pep rally, students will be sent off to their first period class.

We will not be printing schedules for students this year, so students should check PowerSchool the morning of August 11 to see their final schedule. Their schedule may have changed since Kick-Off. If a student is NOT able to access their schedule on PowerSchool during the morning of August 11, they may see a staff member at the front of the school or go to the library starting at 7:30am to get a copy.

Week of Welcome - Reminder

This year, we are excited to start our school year off with our annual “Week of Welcome.” During the first week of school, we will have various activities to help students build relationships with their peers/staff, review our Falcon Pride values, build school spirit, increase student connection with the school, and more. During Monday and Tuesday, teachers will give a brief overview of their classes as well as take students through various fun and informational activities. Wednesday and Thursday teachers will begin their classes and students will continue with school culture building activities during their advisory period. The week will finish with class level assemblies and a fun lunch activity on Friday.

Student Parking - Reminder

The student parking lots are located inside the campus gates, and the gates will be closed during the school day. Student parking lots will be the South Parking Lot, the west side of the Bungalow Lot, and certain spots in the parking lot outside of the 700 building. See the Student Parking Lots for a visual.

Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up - Reminder

At Scripps Ranch High, traffic during pick-up and drop-off times has been a problem since our school has “one way in and one way out.” In order to limit traffic as much as possible, we are asking parents/guardians to drop off their students in designated locations on the East Side of Falcon Way, Scripps Lake Drive, or Treena Street. See this Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up for details.

Accessing the PowerSchool Parent Portal

For instructions on signing up and using the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please refer to the updated information sheet here. If you do not have an existing Parent Portal account and require the Access ID and Password to add your student, please click here to obtain the necessary credentials.

Attendance Procedure Updates - Reminder

New this year, parents/guardians will report student absences via two Google forms. There is an Early Release Request form and an Absence/Late Arrival Notification form. These forms will go live on the first day of school, August 11th. Although anyone can access these forms, submissions will only be received when sent using the parent/guardian email address on file in PowerSchool. All other submissions will be automatically blocked. You may have a new attendance clerk—see below. All information regarding attendance, including the links, can be found on the attendance website and pages 12-16 in the student handbook.

Counseling Updates

Class Schedules
Students will be able to view final schedules in the PowerSchool Student Portal on Sunday, August 10th at 5:00 P.M. We encourage all students to check their official schedule on the morning of the first day of school to account for any last-minute changes.

Class Change Requests
As communicated in advance, course change requests were accepted via a Google Form on a student’s Kick-Off day. All requests were reviewed and changes were made when possible.

If a student finds an error in their schedule, i.e.,  repeat class, hole in the schedule or 10th grader in a class designated for 9th graders, they should see their counselor on the first day of school, during the period in which they are impacted.

New Counselor Caseloads

There have been changes to the counselor caseloads for the 2025-26 school year. Click here to see which counselor will be supporting your student this year.

That’s all for today. We look forward to welcoming everyone tomorrow for the first day of the 2025-26 school year.

Sincerely,

Matt Lawson, Ed.D

Principal
