Dear Falcon Families,
We hope your first week of “back to school” activities has gone well. We once again welcomed over 1900 students back to campus for the start of a great year. Teachers worked through our Week of Welcome program with students, introducing students to school policies, opportunities to be more involved with school, and academic, extracurricular, and mental health resources. We started the week with a fun pep rally and a “students vs. staff” tug-of-war, and ended our week with grade level assemblies. All in all, it was a fun, energetic start to the year and we are looking forward to much more ahead! As always, we encourage our families to be active participants in their students’ education, and we hope to see you on campus at games, events, and so forth. Together, we can work to create a positive, rewarding learning community for our students.
Our fall sports and programs are underway and starting strong! Our Football team, and our Women’s Volleyball team had scrimmages and games, and theater wrapped its summer production. Our award winning Marching Band continues the preparations for this competition season. We wish all our Falcons luck as they rehearse and practice, getting ready for competition.
Tell your students to mark their calendars: The first of our Weekly College Series on Wednesdays will be September 10th; Southern Utah University will be featured. The College Series takes place at lunch (12:55-1:25) in the library, and all students are welcome. More information, coming soon.
As a reminder, every Monday is a Modified Monday, with school dismissal at 2:29pm. This Monday, 8/18, teachers will attend an all staff Professional Development meeting from 2:35 to 3:40. If students need to see their teachers, they should follow up and coordinate directly with them.
Today’s update includes reminders about the bell schedule, where to park and drop off, our upcoming College Series, Back to School night, how to connect to the Parent Portal, and more. Please encourage your students to check the Scripps Ranch ASB website and Instagram for updates on school events and spirit days. It’s also a great idea to bookmark the counseling page (see link above) so students know where to go for specific counseling questions. Senior families, just a reminder to please be sure to bookmark the senior page on our website (updates in progress) so you and your senior do not miss any critical deadlines or events this year.

The student parking lots are located inside the campus gates, and the gates will be closed during the school day. Student parking lots will be the South Parking Lot, the west side of the Bungalow Lot, and certain spots in the parking lot outside of the 700 building. See the Student Parking Lots for a visual.
Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up - Reminder
At Scripps Ranch High, traffic during pick-up and drop-off times has been a problem since our school has “one way in and one way out.” In order to limit traffic as much as possible, we are asking parents/guardians to drop off their students in designated locations on the East Side of Falcon Way, Scripps Lake Drive, or Treena Street. See this Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up for details. Please do not park along any curbs that are painted red in front of the theatre or at the top of Falcon Way; these are to be kept open in case of emergency.
Accessing the PowerSchool Parent Portal - Reminder
For instructions on signing up and using the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please refer to the updated information sheet here. If you do not have an existing Parent Portal account and require the Access ID and Password to add your student, please click here to obtain the necessary credentials.
Attendance Procedure Updates - Reminder
New this year, parents/guardians will report student absences via two Google forms. There is an Early Release Request form and an Absence/Late Arrival Notification form. These forms will go live on the first day of school, August 11th. Although anyone can access these forms, submissions will only be received when sent using the parent/guardian email address on file in PowerSchool. All other submissions will be automatically blocked. You may have a new attendance clerk—see below. All information regarding attendance, including the links, can be found on the attendance website and pages 12-16 in the student handbook.
