Dear Falcon Families,
We hope everyone had a great weekend, especially our students as they enjoy a Monday off. Last week the students had fun participating in Homecoming Spirit Week by dressing up, attending the pep rally, attending the football game against Christian, and dancing the night away at the “Around the World” themed Homecoming dance Saturday night. Last Thursday we held the annual “What I Wish My Parents Knew” event. Our panel of students did an amazing job fielding questions and holding a discussion with the audience, creating a lasting impact with this powerful event.
Our Scripps Ranch Foundation is looking for volunteers to get involved in planning the “Sips for Scripps” event (the largest fundraiser) this year. If you are interested, please see the information below. Be on the lookout for more opportunities to connect with campus through our many student programs, as well as the FALCONnections and the Scripps Ranch Foundation.
Our Marching Band students are finalizing their show, “Written in the Stars,” and getting closer to their first competition. They are also getting ready for the Marching Band Falcon Invitational Tournament, held at Scripps Ranch on November 1st. The Falcon Playhouse will open with “The Little Prince“ next week (10/23). And our fall sports teams are nearing the end of their seasons with CIF championship games on the horizon. For more information about our other programs (shows and competitions), visit the following links: Falcon Playhouse go HERE, Music Program (marching band in the fall) go HERE, ASB updates go HERE, and AFROTC program go HERE.
This week puts us just over halfway through the second progress report grading period. Please encourage your student to talk to their teachers if they are struggling with a course. There are many helpful resources available to them on campus. One resource, SR6 Saturday Sessions (Saturday School), is up and running. Students can find information signs and QR codes posted all around campus, or they can visit their grade level Google classroom for more information. Counseling will soon be announcing Extended Day opportunities for students to recover course credits. The information for these classes is coming soon.
The College Showcase event is this week! On Thursday, 10/16, SRHS will host a college fair with over 100 colleges in attendance. See below for the flyer and more information. This coming week, Scripps Ranch High School will take part in California’s “The Great CA Shake Out” Earthquake drill. Schools all over California will go through a full earthquake drill to be prepared for emergencies.
Senior families: The senior application labs have started! These labs will run from 10/7 to 11/20. Seniors should check their Google classroom for more information on location and times. The yearbook submission deadline for senior baby photos is 11/21. Go HERE for more information on submitting baby photos for your senior. This Saturday will be hosted by Mrs. Jenkins (Social Science & English, Rm B12). A breakfast and lunch meal is available for all students attending Core Academy at no charge. Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up - Reminder
At Scripps Ranch High, during pick-up and drop-off times has been a problem since our school has “one way in and one way out.” In order to limit traffic as much as possible, we are asking parents/guardians to drop off their students in designated locations on the East Side of Falcon Way, Scripps Lake Drive, or Treena Street. See this Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up for details. Please do not park along any curbs that are painted red in front of the theatre or at the top of Falcon Way; these are to be kept open in case of emergency. View these Traffic Safety Tips for drivers and students from SDUSD.
That’s all for today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Sincerely,
Matt Lawson, Ed.D
Principal
