Dear Falcon Families,
We hope the coming week offers everyone a chance to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with friends and family. Happy Thanksgiving to all! After you've fed your friends and families, please check those cupboards for canned goods you can donate! Our JROTC has already started their annual canned food drive and your students can find the blue donation bins in their classrooms.
Our Falcons have had a lot to celebrate and be thankful for the last few weeks. We are very proud of our Falcon Student Athletes who represented Scripps Ranch during the CIF championships. Our Marching Band continues to earn high scores in their competitions, and our students are beginning the preparations for their final exams. For updated information on all our fantastic programs, please visit our website, or the following links: Athletics go HERE, Falcon Playhouse go HERE, Music Program (marching band in the fall) go HERE, ASB updates go HERE, and AFROTC program go HERE.
This updates message is for 11/23 and for 11/30, and my next weekly update message will be 12/7. When we return from Thanksgiving break, please remind your students to check their grades and take advantage of any opportunities to improve by talking to their teachers and taking advantage of tutoring resources, as they prepare for their final exams (starting 12/17). The next SR6 (Saturday School) will be 12/6. Our peer tutoring program is also available to any students needing help. Students can find help from their peers on Tuesdays and Fridays during lunch in room 900, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, in room 900. Students should also check their grade level Google Classroom for updates and stay connected with the ASB Instagram page for event details and upcoming deadlines.
In this week’s announcements, please check out details about the school registrar form being closed, the next SR6 (Saturday School), and info on completing the Impact Aid Survey.
We hope you are all able to enjoy some time with friends and family this week, and get some well-deserved rest!

Thanksgiving Break
There will be no school November 24th to November 28th due to the Thanksgiving Day Holiday and break. School will resume Monday, December 1st.
Reminder of Modified Monday
As a reminder, every Monday is a Modified Monday, with school dismissal at 2:29pm. If students need to see their teachers during this time, they should follow up with their teacher in order to schedule a meeting.
School Registrar Closed Over Thanksgiving Break - Reminder
Due to Thanksgiving break, access to registrar Google forms for specific requests will be inactive beginning Thursday November 20th. Access to registrar Google forms will resume upon return from Thanksgiving break on December 1st.
For all walk in questions, good driver forms, SSA forms, questions on Parchment transcript submissions and registrar related information, please visit the registrar's office by Thursday, November 20th before school, during advisory (with permission from your teacher) or during lunch.
Counseling
SENIORS: Counselors will be unavailable during Thanksgiving Break. If students have questions while working on their college applications over the break, they should contact the college admissions offices directly for assistance. We also recommend that seniors review the Post-Secondary Guide on the Senior page of the counseling website for guidance on how to make transcript or letter of recommendation requests and how to complete various college applications (Common App, CSU, UC, etc.).
Any new requests for transcripts, letters of recommendation, or Secondary School Reports for college applications will be reviewed when we return from break.
FRESHMEN: Freshmen students will be meeting one-on-one with their counselor during English class next week to review their course request selections for next year.
Next SR6 Saturday Session, December 6th
SR6 (Scripps Ranch 6) is an academic support available to all students. It is a 6th day of school hosted on select Saturdays for four hours, 8am-12pm. Our next session will be held Saturday December 6th and will be hosted by Mr. Batchelor (Math, Rm 700). A breakfast and lunch meal is available for all students attending Core Academy at no charge. Signing up by Wednesday, and selecting “yes” to breakfast and lunch guarantees it will be available for your student. SR6 is also an avenue for students to recover their attendance (AZTWs in PowerSchool) to remain eligible for school events. View Semester 25-26 SR6 Dates or flyer with all sign up forms.
Complete the 2025–26 Impact Aid Survey - Complete by Friday, December 19 - Reminder
The annual Impact Aid Survey is now open in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Families are asked to complete the form by Friday, December 19, 2025.
Impact Aid provides essential federal funding that supports all students across San Diego Unified—including those living on or near federal property such as military bases.
How to complete the form:
- Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal.
- Select Forms.
- Choose 2025–26 Impact Aid Program Survey Form.
- Sign and submit.
If you cannot access the Parent Portal, a paper version will be available in January.
If you need help accessing the Parent Portal or setting up an account, visit the Parent Portal resource webpage or contact our site tech, Jason Lyons, [email protected].
Every completed survey helps bring valuable resources to our schools, so thank you in advance for your participation.
Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up - Reminder
At Scripps Ranch High, during pick-up and drop-off times has been a problem since our school has “one way in and one way out.” In order to limit traffic as much as possible, we are asking parents/guardians to drop off their students in designated locations on the East Side of Falcon Way, Scripps Lake Drive, or Treena Street. See this Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up for details. Please do not park along any curbs that are painted red in front of the theatre or at the top of Falcon Way; these are to be kept open in case of emergency. View these Traffic Safety Tips for drivers and students from SDUSD.
That’s all for today. Enjoy your Thanksgiving break.
Sincerely,
Matt Lawson, Ed.D
Principal
Scripps Ranch High School
