SRHS Weekly Updates as of 5-3-26
Posted on 05/03/2026

Dear Falcon Families,

We are now entering the last three full weeks of school, with two full weeks of AP testing beginning this week. I’m confident our students are prepared and ready to do their best. As the end of the semester quickly approaches, we encourage families to follow up with their students regarding grades, tardies, and absences. We have many opportunities for tutoring, and to make up for time missed at school. Students should follow up with their teachers regarding their grade, missing work, and tutoring time, and consult their grade level Google classroom for SR6 and other attendance make up information. We are here to help your students finish the year strong.

This week we celebrate our incredible Robotics teams, who recently competed in the Aerospace Robotics Competition. These incredible teams, the Flying Falcons and the Flying Knights, placed 1st and 2nd in the competition, sweeping the event. What an incredible result after facing many obstacles this year! Both teams have now been invited to Nationals, which will be held at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire on May 29th and 30th. Congratulations to our teams, and thank you Mr. Tsui for your support and guidance. Best of luck to you all! Go HERE for a picture of our winners!

Mark your calendars! Our final Falcon Playhouse production of the year, “12 Angry Jurors” will open this week on May 7th; see below for a link to showtimes and ticket information. Our incredible music program will present their end of year concert, “From Script to Screen: Music Inspired by Literature,” on Friday, May 8th at 5:30pm. See below for the website link.

Spring sports go into the playoffs next week. Brackets come out over the weekend, so be sure to check out the website to find out the details for all athletic schedules.

Senior families! : On April 16th, students of the class of 2026 received instructions in their grade-level google classroom regarding their final transcript request for post-graduation plans. The google form for post-graduation plans will be open until May 21st. Please encourage your student to review their (class of 2026) google classroom for posts related to final transcript requests. And don’t forget to check out the graduation information posted on the school website, as well as reviewing the Senior Family message. See below for more detailed information in case you missed it.

This week’s updates include reminders about registering for next year, upcoming SR6 (Saturday School) sessions (along with AP review sessions), details on the upcoming AP tests, SRHS Attendance reminders (especially important since senior activities are coming up!), graduation and prom reminders, and more.

Reminders

Register for School for Next Year - from SDUSD - Reminder

Action needed! Registration for the 2026-2027 school year - deadline May 8th

San Diego Unified recently emailed families with instructions regarding "re-registration" for the 2026-2027 school year. Thank you to those families who have already completed this task.

All families are asked to review and submit updated emergency contact information annually - please complete this as soon as possible. The deadline to submit is May 8th; the district will close the re-registration portal at that time.

  • Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal account (powerschool.sandi.net) using a web browser (not on mobile app).

Note: You must be logged in with a parent account, not as a student.

  • This is NOT in the "Forms" section. Scroll all the way down to the bottom left, to the icon "Student Registration for Next Year."
  • Be sure to click the green "Submit" button at the bottom of the very last screen to ensure that your answers are stored/recorded.

If you have issues accessing your account or the re-registration section, please complete this form to request assistance. All returning families must complete the Student Registration for Next Year form by the end of day (11:59 p.m.) on Friday, May 8, 2026. View letter sent directly to parents from SDUSD.

Eligibility for Prom, Commencement, and Senior Events- Reminder

Seniors with any AZW codes or more than three T codes per semester from 8/25/25 onward are ineligible for Prom, Commencement, and Senior Events. See all criteria. An eligibility letter went home to students and parents last week Monday. Please continue to check in with your student on these requirements. Attendance is one of the criteria for eligibility.

Attendance Verification- Reminder
For any absences being verified by a parent/guardian retro-actively, please anticipate a 48 hour turn around. PowerSchool will be updated within two complete school days.

Next SR6 Session is Saturday May 9th -
Reminder

There is one SR6 session remaining prior to prom (5/9). It will be hosted by Ms. Bellotti (math). There are also AP review sessions hosted by Ms. Francisco, Ms. Hockmuth, Mr. Uebel, and Mr. Rasmuson. ASB will also be hosting a campus clean up.

SR6 (Scripps Ranch 6) is an academic support available to all students. It is a 6th day of school hosted on select Saturdays for four hours, 8am-12pm. A breakfast and lunch meal is available for all students attending Core Academy at no charge. Signing up by the Wednesday prior, and selecting “yes” to breakfast and lunch guarantees it will be available for your student. SR6 is also an avenue for students to recover their attendance (AZTWs in PowerSchool) to remain eligible for school events. View Semester 25-26 SR6 Dates or flyer with all sign up forms

That’s all for today. Enjoy your weekend.

Sincerely,

Matt Lawson, Ed.D

Principal
