Dear Falcon Families,
The first two weeks of the school year are complete and we are ready to host our Falcon Families at Back to School night this coming week (on Wednesday, August 26th, at 5pm). Teachers and staff are excited to meet our families and talk about how to make this another successful year for our students.
All of our programs, athletics, theater, music, and AFROTC have started strong, ready to compete and perform in the new school year. ASB sent out club applications to advisors last week so clubs will begin very soon.

During our Week of Welcome, your student should have joined their grade level Google classroom. If they did not, please remind your student to do so. The Google classroom gives students access to all the most recent and relevant announcements and information needed for their grade level. Students can look forward to updates on spirit weeks, Homecoming, Saturday School (SR6), upcoming progress reports, and more.

As a reminder, every Monday is a Modified Monday, with school dismissal at 2:29pm. If students need to see their teachers during this time, they should follow up with their teacher in order to schedule a meeting.

Back to School Night
Back to School Night will be this coming Wednesday, August 26. We’ll start with a short opener from me (Principal Lawson) at 4:45pm and the passing period bell will ring at 4:52pm. Period 1 begins right at 5:00 pm.
Please remember to have a copy of your student’s class schedule available for the evening.

Send Tissues! - from the SRHS Foundation
Tissue supplies for our classrooms dwindle quickly every year leaving many classrooms without anything during the peak cold and flu season. In order to prevent this problem this year, we will be holding a "Tissue Box Drive". Please bring a new, unopened box (or boxes) to Back to School Night on August 26. A bin for donations will be found in the quad between the main office and the lunch court. Thank you for supporting our school!
SRHS Parent Committees: SSC & SGT
We have opportunities for parents to participate in either School Site Council (SSC) and/or Site Governance Team (SGT). These monthly meetings provide a simple, direct way for parents to stay connected and share input on school programs and priorities.
- School Site Council (SSC) 3:45 PM – 4:15 PM - meet via Microsoft Teams on approximately the last Tuesday of each month.
- SSC oversees the implementation, monitoring, and revision of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), including reviewing and analyzing data; consulting with advisory groups; evaluating programs and activities; and allocating the expenditure of funds available to the school through categorical programs.
- Site Governance Team (SGT) 4:15 PM – 4:45 PM - meet via Microsoft Teams on approximately the last Tuesday of each month
- SGT oversees the instructional program, implementation of new services, and bell schedule.
We have an open parent seat on each committee for the upcoming year:
- SSC: 1 Parent Vacancy (Continuing members: Courtney O’Rourke and Natile Kocis)
- SGT: 1 Parent Vacancy (Continuing members: Courtney O’Rourke, Monique Lineback)
Our first meeting will be Tuesday, September 15, 2026 for both SSC and SGT. If you are interested and would like to run for a position on either committee, please complete the SRHS School Committees & Parent Volunteers 2026-27 Google Form by Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Submitted names will be placed on an electronic ballot, which will be sent to the school community for voting.
Attendance: A Major Focus This Year - Reminder
The 2026–27 SRHS Family Attendance Guide will remain linked in the header of each weekly parent message throughout the year for easy reference. As a reminder, please report absences promptly and submit same-day early-release requests by 10:00 a.m. Requests submitted after 10:00 a.m. will require a parent or guardian to come to the Attendance Office in person, show identification, and check the student out. Students who become ill during the school day should report to the Health Office. Thank you for helping us protect instructional time and keep students in class, on time, every day.
How To Report An Absence, Late Arrival, Or Early Release - Reminder
For parents/guardians who have a gmail account, the SRHS Attendance Form is the preferred method for reporting a full-day absence, late arrival, or early release.The form must be submitted from a parent or guardian email address listed in PowerSchool. Parents/guardians wanting to update their email address in PowerSchool can follow these steps.
For parents/guardians without a gmail account, a direct email to the students’ attendance clerk is the preferred method for reporting a full-day absence, late arrival, or early release. Counseling Updates
SENIOR PRESENTATION AND SUPPORTS: On Monday, August 24th, students will view a senior presentation in their English class covering college and other post-secondary planning. The video will be posted on the counseling website the following day, along with a Senior Post-Secondary Guide to assist with the college application process and other options. Seniors will then have the opportunity to sign up for a one-on-one meeting with their counselor.

From Yearbook: A Note About This Year's Cover: Senior Signatures - Reminder
This year's yearbook cover will feature something special: the names of our seniors, styled to look like handwritten signatures, worked right into the artwork on the front and back cover. Names will be pulled from the official senior class list in PowerSchool and rendered in a signature-style font as part of the design.
With roughly 450 seniors in this year's class, we simply don't have the physical space to fit every name on the cover itself while keeping the design something everyone will be proud to hold. So here's how we're handling it fairly:
- We'll use a random drawing to select approximately 200 senior names to feature on the front and back covers, and the placement of each name will also be randomized.
- Every senior whose name isn't selected for the cover will still, to the best of our abilities, be recognized in a place of honor elsewhere in the book, in the senior section.
We want to be clear about why we're doing it this way: this is purely a matter of physical space and artistic design. A cover with 450 names crammed onto it would be unreadable and wouldn't do justice to anyone. Random selection ensures the process is completely impartial. It has nothing to do with anyone's involvement, achievements, or standing, and every senior will still be represented in the book.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to make this year's cover something the whole class can be proud of.
Student Parking - Reminder
The student parking lots are located inside the campus gates, and the gates will be closed during the school day. Student parking lots will be the South Parking Lot, the west side of the Bungalow Lot, and certain spots in the parking lot outside of the 700 building. See the Student Parking Lots for a visual.
Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up - Reminder
At Scripps Ranch High School, traffic during student drop-off and pick-up can be challenging because our campus has only one way in and one way out. To help reduce traffic as much as possible, we are asking parents and guardians to drop off and pick up students at the designated locations along the east side of Falcon Way, Scripps Lake Drive, or Treena Street.
