Dear Falcon Families,
We hope you are all enjoying the break in heat on this three day weekend. We are now two weeks away from the end of the grading period. As we near the end of the first six weeks and teachers update progress reports, please encourage your students to seek help in subjects where they might struggle. To prepare for the end of the first grading period, please make sure you can access your student’s information through the Parent Portal. See information and reminders below, if you need to make updates.
Please remind your students to bring their District Issued Chromebook to class everyday. Many teachers use district regulated tools for assignments and assessments. If your student has a broken Chromebook, please have them contact Ms. Rohrer in the library; she can offer a day to day replacement or order a new one, as needed.
To be sure your student receives all school and graduating class level updates on events, please remind them to join the Google classroom for their grade and follow the SRHS ASB instagram. The Google classroom gives them access to all the announcements and information needed for their grade level and the ASB instagram includes reminders and updates in real time. While there are many events happening all over campus (see these links for more information: Music program, Theater, Athletics), our next big event is Homecoming on September 25th. The Homecoming game is September 25th and the dance is September 26th.
Does your student need to make up their picture day? Please see below for details about the make up day for grades 9-11, and seniors (separate days).
This week’s updates include reminders about the photo make up day, SSC and SGT new parent representatives, information on how to access the PowerSchool parent portal, drop-off and pick-up, attendance procedures, the return of the Wednesday College series, a Pledge Drive message from the Foundation, and more. Please continue to encourage your students to check the Scripps Ranch ASB website and Instagram for updates on school events and spirit days. As the football season continues, students will definitely want to be aware of spirit days, homecoming activities, and more. We hope everyone has a restful three day weekend.

Correction: A previous version of this message stated that the first School Site Council (SSC) meeting would take place on September 15. Please note that the meeting is actually scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
SR6 Saturday Sessions
The next SR6 session will be held Saturday 9/12 with Mr. Garcia (theater) and Mr. Laverty (English). SR6 (Core Academy) is an academic support available to all students. It is a 6th day of school hosted on select Saturdays for four hours, 8am-12pm. SR6 will be hosted by a certificated teacher(s) who will provide instruction and support. A breakfast and lunch meal is available for all students attending Core Academy at no charge. Signing up by Wednesday, and selecting “yes” to breakfast and lunch guarantees it will be available for your student. All students can view the content areas of the teacher(s) scheduled for each session via the weekly sign-up link which is posted on their Google Classroom. SR6 is also an avenue for students to recover their attendance (AZTWUs in PowerSchool) to remain eligible for school events. Additional opportunities for attendance recovery can be found on the student's Google Classroom and in the student handbook.
Pledge Drive — Support SRHS (from the SRHS Foundation)
At SRHS, we want our students to have access to the resources, programs, and opportunities they need to thrive. Many of these important investments go beyond what the district budget can provide. Through the SRHS Foundation’s Pledge Drive, your generosity helps provide additional resources and opportunities that enhance the student experience and strengthen our school community.

What I Wish My Parents Knew — Save the Date
Please save the date for Wednesday, October 14, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. in the SRHS Library.
What I Wish My Parents Knew is an evening for parents and guardians to hear directly from SRHS students about what it’s like to be a teenager and navigate high school today. A panel of our students will share their perspectives, experiences, and insights with families.
More details will be shared as the event approaches.

Reporting Absences, Late Arrivals, Early Releases - Reminder
When reporting a student absence, please use the SRHS Attendance Form (available on the Attendance Website) or email your student’s attendance clerk. These are the primary methods our attendance clerks use to process requests efficiently, issue blue slips, and update PowerSchool records in a timely manner. Phone calls and voicemails should be used only as a secondary option.
Homecoming Attendance Deadline - Reminder
As a reminder, the deadline for parents to call in to clear attendance for Homecoming eligibility is Friday, September 18. Parents/guardians and students are encouraged to review attendance in PowerSchool now and address any attendance questions, corrections, or recovery needs well before the deadline.
Families should continue to report new absences as usual. Students may also continue to use available attendance recovery opportunities. However, attendance verification or correction requests submitted after September 18 will not restore Homecoming eligibility.
Please take a few minutes over the next couple of weeks to review your student’s attendance so there is plenty of time to address any concerns before the deadline.
2026–27 Annual Parent Forms & Portal Access - Reminder
The forms listed below were previously provided on paper, but the district has since transitioned them to the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Our goal is 100% completion of these essential documents.
Please log in to your Parent Portal account and submit all required forms by Friday, September 4, 2026.
- 2026–27 Family Resource Guide
- 2026–27 Housing Questionnaire
- 2026–27 Health Information Exchange Consent Form (required annually for emergency nurse care)
- 2026–27 Universal Form (pay close attention to Photo/Video permissions so your student can be included in the yearbook)
- LCFF Form - short, confidential form, and helps ensure our school receives the state funding and resources for which we are eligible
- Students benefit from services when qualified through LCFF process
- Some students get fee waivers/reductions for college applications and AP exams, and families may get lower-cost internet service
- SUN Bucks — (Summer–EBT) provides $40 per month per student for food for June, July, and August 2026 ($120 total). Cards are issued in the fall
- LCFF Form is used in lieu of lunch application

Wednesday College and Career Series
The Scripps Ranch High School Foundation is excited to announce the return of the Wednesday College Series, returning on September 16, 2026. Students are invited to come to the Library at lunch from 12:55-1:25pm to visit with college admissions representatives and learn about colleges and majors. All grade levels are welcome to attend. Follow this link for the 2026: Wednesday College Series
SAVE THE DATE! College Showcase
The College Showcase is coming to Scripps Ranch on Thursday, October 15th from 6-8pm in the SRHS Gym. Here is the list of Colleges currently registered to attend: The College Showcase
Student Parking - Reminder
The student parking lots are located inside the campus gates, and the gates will be closed during the school day. Student parking lots will be the South Parking Lot, the west side of the Bungalow Lot, and certain spots in the parking lot outside of the 700 building. See the Student Parking Lots for a visual.
Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up - Reminder
At Scripps Ranch High School, traffic during student drop-off and pick-up can be challenging because our campus has only one way in and one way out. To help reduce traffic as much as possible, we are asking parents and guardians to drop off and pick up students at the designated locations along the east side of Falcon Way, Scripps Lake Drive, or Treena Street. Please see the Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up information for additional details.
Grad Nite - Reminder
Shared on behalf of the Foundation and the Grad Nite committee:
- Calling all SRHS Seniors and families—stay connected as we kick off an unforgettable year. Grad Nite Hub.
- Merch and flocking are available for everyone who wants to show their Falcon Pride. Store
That’s all for today. Enjoy your weekend.
Sincerely,
Matt Lawson, Ed.D
Principal
