Dear Falcon Families,

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday evening. I’m excited to announce that this Friday, top X games athletes are coming to Scripps Ranch High to perform and talk about bullying prevention awareness and positive behavior. It should be a lot of fun to see the athletes perform tricks in the quad and hear their inclusive message. On another positive note, staff and student absences are declining, so we are trending in the right direction! My hope is this decline continues and the burden and difficulties felt by staff, students, and families will get to a more manageable level. In today’s update, I’ve included a reminder about the important February dates, information about the Superintendent Search Community Engagement Forum, the sign-up sheet for the 2022 Summer Level Up Program, safety reminders, and some counseling updates. Here are the latest updates as of 2-6-22.

* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

2022 Level Up SD Summer Academic Program

Scripps Ranch High will be one of the host sites for this summer experience. The registration period is Feb 1st to Feb 28th. See this this Link: Summer Experience to enroll.

Counseling Updates

On Friday, Feb 4th, students submitted their Articulation Course Request Cards to their English teacher and electronically requested their courses through the Class Registration on the Student Portal. Counselors will now follow-up with students in one-on-one meetings through their English class to confirm their course choices. If a change needs to be made from what was submitted, it can be done at that time. The meeting dates are advertised on the grade level pages.

If your student was absent last week and was unable to submit their card, they can now bring it directly to the counseling office and the counselor can upload their electronic course requests.

Counselor availability during Articulation

Starting this week counselors will be reviewing the requests submitted and will continue working with students one-on-one for the following three weeks. We appreciate your understanding that during this time it may take longer to return messages since we will be working outside our offices with students.

Summer School

The district sent an email to families regarding Extended Learning Opportunities for all. If your student has earned a D or F in any class while in high school and needs to remediate the class, please submit the request form by February 28th. Students can see their final grades on their Transcript in the Student Portal to confirm if any courses need to be remediated. Counselors will select the courses for summer school after the student is registered. Click here to register your student for summer school. Refer to the email for further information.

Mid-Year Transcripts

Counselors will automatically send a mid-year transcript to all Common App Colleges in which an initial transcript had been previously requested by a student and sent to the college. If a student needs a mid-year transcript sent to a college that does NOT use the Common App, they will need to re-request their transcript in Xello. Common App Mid-year transcripts will be sent by February 11th.

*** UPDATE**** Mid-Year Transcripts will be sent to colleges by mid-February, but not necessarily by Feb 11th. It will depend on how many changes our registrar gets from teachers putting in IP or doing a grade change after today.

Mid-Year Transcripts for Students Taking College Courses

Students who are taking college courses will need to send a mid-year transcript to any college requesting mid-year transcripts. The transcript needs to be requested directly from the college.

Transcripts for CSU and UC Colleges

Only request a mid-year transcript to a CSU or UC college if it they are requesting a transcript now. Most do not want a transcript until you have decided to attend the school and are accepting their offer of admissions or will just ask for a final transcript at the end of the year. When you do need a transcript sent to a CSU or UC school, in addition to requesting on Xello you must also email the registrar, Janay Lamar ([email protected]), to explain why you need the transcript. This is to confirm she is only sending transcripts when they are actually required.

That’s all for this evening. Thanks and enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
