Parent Message 9-11-22
Posted on 09/11/2022

Dear Falcon Families,

I hope you are enjoying your weekends. As a reminder, we have our Open House this coming Wednesday, September 14th beginning at 4:45pm. Our staff looks forward to welcoming you onto campus and answering any questions you may have. See the full details below. I want to say thank you to our parent representatives who volunteered to be members of our Site Governance Team. I look forward to collaborating with you this year and continuing to make improvements to our school. For our student openings on both School Site Council and Site Governance Team, we had 27 students put their name in as interested. This is amazing as student representatives play a key role on these committees. I will send a ballot out this coming week for students to vote through the “class of” Google Classrooms. Our Wednesday College Series begins this week on Wednesday, September 14th at lunch time in the library. Thank you to our Foundation for setting up this great experience for our students. I look forward to starting another great week and welcoming you to campus this Wednesday. See below for the latest updates as of 9-11-22.

* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

Families will be welcomed by our band, AFJROTC, and Cheer team in the quad at 4:45, followed by a few words from our foundation and myself. First period presentations will begin at 5:10pm. You’ll find the details, including the schedule here. For ease of your evening, we suggest having students complete this schedule for you or send you a screenshot of their schedule with room numbers from PowerSchool. See you Wednesday!

SRHS School Committees and Parent Volunteers

A big thank you to our parents who volunteered to serve on our Site Governance Team. We had 3 openings and 3 parents offer to serve on the committee, so we will not be doing a ballot this year. Our 3 new parent reps for or Site Governance Team are:

Erika Bobadilla

Courtney O’Rouke

Christina Clabo

Welcome to SGT and I look forward to working with you this year.

SRHS School Committees for Students

Thank you to all of our students who put their names in to be a representative on either the School Site Council (SSC) or Site Governance Team (SGT). I will be preparing a ballot this week with your submitted names and bios. The ballot will be put into the “class of” Google Classrooms for students to vote. Look out for the ballot to be posted early next week.

Counseling Updates

Counselor Availability: Counselors are available to meet with students during passing periods and lunch time in front of the counseling office.Students do not need an appointment to get assistance at those times. If a student needs to schedule an appointment at another time, they can request that during those times as well.

Stay Up To Date: Visit the counseling website for important information and upcoming dates, srhscounseling.com. For those who use Instagram we encourage you to join the counseling Instagram page @ srhs.counseling

College Classes: If your student is enrolled in a CCAP course through the high school and has any questions regarding their course/s, they should contact the CCAP program directly. [email protected]

UC Scout (Update): Our registrar, Janay Lamar, is waiting to receive the UC Scout grades earned through the Level Up Program. The anticipated arrival is mid-September. Families may sign this form and send the form directly to Ms. Lamar at [email protected] or stop by the counseling office during lunch to pick up a form. Once Ms. Lamar receives the official grades from the district, she will review the completed forms and will upload those students’ grades to transcripts. We do not automatically add the classes because we have students who do not want the grades included on their high school transcript. ONLY UC Scout classes taken through the district’s Level Up Program can be added to the transcript. If a student takes the class on their own it will not get added to the district transcript, but it can still be added to a student’s college application. Students are encouraged to SUBMIT THE FORM BY SEPTEMBER 22nd, especially seniors since these grades impact their GPA for Cal-Grants and college applications.

Seniors - Jump Start Senior Year: This FREE event is for high school seniors and their families to find out about careers paths, the college application process (UCs, CSUs, Community Colleges, Privates), scholarships/financial aid, and more. Registration closes the day before the event.

Seniors - CSU College Night: After two years of hosting virtual events, representatives from all 23 CSU campus are happy to be back in person to meet with students and get them excited about their college future. This event is free and a great opportunity for students to learn key information regarding admission requirements, the Cal State Apply application, financial aid and more. The event will be in San Diego on Thursday, September 29th at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina San Diego, CA from 6:30 P.M. - 8:30 P.M. Click here for more information and to register.
