Dear Falcon Families,
A huge congratulations to our Dance, Cheer and ASB Teacher Trishaa Camp for being selected as a semifinalist for the District's 2023 Teacher of the year! Her interview is Monday so wish her luck in being selected as a finalist. Also, congratulations to our Science Olympiad teams. Purchase Your Tickets for “Anastasia” the Musical - Reminder
The SRHS Falcon Playhouse is back with their second show of the school year with their spring season show, "Anastasia" (book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynne Ahrens). Anastasia the musical, inspired by the Twentieth Century Fox Motion Picture, is a story that follows the grown up orphan girl, Anya. With no memory of her past, she is forced to desperately work for money in what used to be St. Petersburg, Russia, saving up for a one way trip to Paris. She doesn't know why she must go to Paris, but she has a hunch something or someone from her past is there. With rumors of the Grand Duchess Anastasia arising of her being alive when she was thought to be dead, her new friends, Dmitry and Vlad, help take her to Paris and take her on a journey to the past. Shows are March 16th, 17th, 18th, 23rd, 24th, and 25th!
With a cast and crew of over 80 students, everyone is working hard for opening night! One unique thing about Anastasia is the set; the show travels through many contrasting places, such as a train, ballroom, ballet, night club, etc., as well as two different countries. The set designed by Jay Butcher (sophomore) and Michael Chen (junior) is being constructed by student technicians. Along the technical side, Anastasia's costumes are beautiful! Involving royalty, the show calls for gorgeous ball gowns fit for a Russian dance. In addition, we will have a full house of K-8 students in the Scripps Ranch community coming to see the show! Tickets are on sale now! Here is the link to purchase tickets: https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/falconplayhouse/6825

Counseling Updates
Extended Day (Science and Social Studies): The Science and Social Science/History Extended Day classes start this week. Students who submitted a google form to request an extended day class by the deadline March 8th, will receive a confirmation email from Sandy Kish sent to their student email account on Friday March 10th. Parents of those students (who accept district emails) will also receive an email notification on Friday March 10th. The email shares the details about the teacher, dates, times and location of the class. Students can also confirm they have been added to an extended day class by looking at their PowerSchool Student Portal. Students should click on the link on the left that says “Grades and Attendance”, if they are enrolled in an extended day class they will see a second tab on that page that says “Grades and Attendance ScrippsRch Ext Day”. Any student who has not signed up for a class but still wants to be enrolled to remediate a D or F they earned on their transcript, must communicate directly with their counselor prior to the classes starting. The request form is no longer active.
CCAP Miramar Meeting (Mandatory): If your student has requested a CCAP community college class during their articulation process for the 2023-24 school year, even if it is not a top choice, they must attend the mandatory CCAP Miramar meeting. The meeting is offered on March 14th and March 15th at 5:30 P.M. Parents and students only need to attend one date. The meeting will take place over zoom https://sandiegounified.zoom.us/j/82486798385
2023 Summer School (Level Up): If your student needs to remediate a D or F grade earned on their high school transcript, please click here to access the request form. Only fill out the first page. The counselor will use the student transcript to select the correct courses on the second page. Once the form is completed, please have your student submit it to Sandy Kish in the counseling office. Details about dates and times can be found on the form. The priority deadline for requesting summer school is April 1st. The enrichment opportunities will be shared from the district in the spring. Click here for the district's Level Up website with links to information about all summer opportunities.
That’s all for today. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
Sincerely,
