Dear Falcon Families,

This past Friday we welcomed our future Falcons during our 8th grade Falcon Day. Thank you to all of our ASB, cheer, and student leaders who set up an exciting day for the Class of 2027. Students shared they had a great experience at Scripps and are looking forward to coming here next year. Thank you all again for making this day special for them.

In today’s update, I’ve included more specific details about the student password reset that will happen this week, additional details for our What I Wish My Parents Knew Event, a link to purchase this year’s yearbook if you haven't already, and more. See below for the latest updates as of 1-29-23.

Scripps Ranch High students’ passwords will be reset during the evening of January 30th. Teachers (including the period 1 community college professors) will give students their new passwords during period 1 on Tuesday, January 31st. Counseling Updates

Counselor Availability: The articulation process for students selecting their classes next year started January 23rd and runs through the beginning of March. During this time we are presenting and sharing information with students and then meeting one-on-one with all students (8th-11th grade). We appreciate your understanding that during this time it may take longer to respond to emails and phone calls, and we will not have much time for additional meetings.

Articulation 2023-2024: On Monday, January 23rd, students started the articulation process to choose their classes for next year. Students will be required to upload their course requests in their PowerSchool Student Portal AND submit an Articulation Card to their English teacher by Friday, February 3rd at 3:30 P.M. Students and parents can view all of the information about articulation on the SRHS Counseling website on the grade level pages. Students should also reference the course descriptions and recommended prerequisites for classes on the counseling website. Click here for details about the articulation process and important upcoming submission and meeting follow up dates (zoom and in person).

Extended Day Math Remediation: Students who requested the Extended Day Math Remediation class will start this week. Students can confirm they were enrolled in the class by checking their student email account. The email will share the dates and times they meet, as well as the teacher and the classroom.

Updated Transcripts: Semester 1 just ended and students will be receiving final permanent grades added to their high school transcript. It takes approx. 1-2 weeks after the semester ends for the district to process your grades and upload them onto the high school transcripts. Once the grades have been added, please ask your student to review their transcript so they are aware of their final grades in case anything needs to be remediated AND to make sure there are not any errors, e.g., missing class, incorrect credits, etc. If a student sees any errors, please have them contact our registrar, Ms. Lamar, immediately to get it corrected. [email protected]

Midyear Transcript Requests: Students should not request midyear transcripts until after January 30th. If they have any extenuating circumstances prior to the midyear deadlines, please direct them to reach out to Ms. Lamar at [email protected]. If they applied to a college through the Common Application and already had an initial transcript sent, then they do NOT request a midyear transcript, a midyear transcript will automatically be sent to those colleges. Students should confirm how they applied to a college (via the Common Application website or a different application site) and the college’s application requirements, before determining if a midyear transcript needs to be requested in the future. All midyear transcripts besides the ones going to a Common Application School, will need to be requested by a student through their Xello account.

Volunteers Needed: Miramar Elementary School is looking for volunteers for their Miramar Elementary School Family Science Nights on February 7th and March 7th. Click here for more information.

That’s all for today. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Sincerely,

Matt Lawson, Ed.D

Principal
