Parent Message 10-10-21
Posted on 10/10/2021

Dear Falcon Families,

Last week was a lot of fun with our school spirit week and Homecoming weekend! You can see some of the pictures on our Instagram account @SRHSFalconPride. Follow us and we’ll continue to post to showcase the amazing things our students and staff do on campus. I don’t have many new updates for this week. P1 grades will be available to view on PowerSchool this Friday. I included some information about blue slips as a reminder to students that they do need a blue slip before they leave campus. Other than that, I’ve included some reminders as well as our counselor updates. Here are the latest updates as of 10-10-21.

* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

End of Progress Reporting Period 1

Progress Reporting Period 1 (denoted P1 in PowerSchool) closed this past Friday, October 8th. As a reminder, these grades are a formative progress report and do not represent a final summative semester grade. Progress Reporting Period 1 grades will be available to view on Friday, October 15th via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Report cards will not be sent home.

Wednesday College Series

The Wednesday College Series, taking place virtually this Wednesday, October 13th from 1:05-1:30pm will feature admissions counselors from San Diego State University. To register for this meeting, please complete this Google Form: Wednesday College Series 2021-22. Please do not register using your email, please use another email address. Blue Slips for Medical Appointments/Personal Business

Blue slips for medical, dental or other appointments must be obtained in the Attendance Office before leaving campus early.  The parent or guardian must call the Attendance Office before 9:30 A.M. to arrange for a blue slip. It is the student’s responsibility to pick up the blue slip in the Attendance Office prior to the scheduled release time.  The blue slip must be presented to the teacher to be released from class.  The student must sign out in the Attendance Office before leaving campus and sign back in when they return.  Leaving school grounds without a Blue Slip is considered a truancy.

Safety Reminders

See this Link: Safety Guideline Highlights 2021-22 for the highlights of the safety guidelines.

District Assessments - Reminder

During the month of October students in grades 9-12 will be participating in three district wide assessments. All English teachers will administer the FAST, a formative reading assessment and in all Math classes students will take the District Essential Math Indicator, referred to as the DEMI. The FAST will be given three times throughout the school year and the DEMI will be given once in the Fall and again in the Spring. These assessments will provide information to teachers to guide instruction. Additionally, all students (9-12) during advisory will participate in the CORE SEL survey, a quick student assessment that measures intrapersonal and extra personal competencies, including self-efficacy, self-management, social awareness and growth mindset. The results of this survey will support our school when making decisions about how we support students when looking at skills, school culture and climate. For further information please refer to links below.
