Parent Message 10-3-21
Posted on 10/04/2021

Dear Falcon Families,

We have an exciting week ahead of us with our spirit week designated dress up days, Friday night Homecoming football game and Homecoming celebration on Saturday at 8pm. We’re happy we can put on some fun activities for students and give them the full high school experience. In this evening’s update, I’ve included information about our campus phone number, the vaccine mandate, yearbook updates, the Wednesday College Series, and more. Here are the latest updates as of 10-3-21.

* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

Old Phone Number on Google

About 2 years ago, the phone number for Scripps Ranch High changed. The current, accurate phone number is 858-302-3400. Sporadically, when Scripps Ranch High is “googled,” the old phone number from 2 years ago is listed on some sites. The old number is now out of service so it will appear that our phones are not working. if you are ever in need of getting our phone number, please go to the main website,

Mandatory Vaccinations

At Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting, the Trustees voted unanimously to require eligible students and all District employees, partners, contractors and other adults who work directly with students and district employees on district property to be fully-vaccinated on or before December 20, 2021. See this Link: Letter to All Families for the details. At this time, I do not have further details other than what is in the letter. I will be sure to share out information once I receive it.

District Assessments

During the month of October students in grades 9-12 will be participating in three district wide assessments. All English teachers will administer the FAST, a formative reading assessment and in all Math classes students will take the District Essential Math Indicator, referred to as the DEMI. The FAST will be given three times throughout the school year and the DEMI will be given once in the Fall and again in the Spring. These assessments will provide information to teachers to guide instruction. Additionally, all students (9-12) during advisory will participate in the CORE SEL survey, a quick student assessment that measures intrapersonal and extra personal competencies, including self-efficacy, self-management, social awareness and growth mindset. The results of this survey will support our school when making decisions about how we support students when looking at skills, school culture and climate. For further information please refer to links below.

Counseling Updates

Senior Post-Secondary Supports

Please encourage your senior to use the Senior page on the counseling website, along with Senior Post-Secondary Guide (found on the Senior page), to find information about important upcoming dates (events/webinars/fairs), assistance with the college application process and to learn how to search for potential colleges, majors, and/or careers.

Senior One-On-One Meetings

Counselors met with many of our senior students last week to discuss post-secondary plans and supports. We will continue to meet with more seniors this week. If your senior has not signed up to meet with their counselor yet, they can come by the counseling office during a passing period or lunch to sign up.

Financial Aid

The FAFSA application opened on Friday, October 1st. Click here for more information about Financial Aid, Financial Aid workshops through CalSoap, scholarships and reduced tuition through WUE. The information is also linked in the Senior Post-Secondary Guide.

New Counselor Alpha Breakdown

Counselor caseloads have been adjusted due to enrollment. The district shared that we may get another counselor, if that happens there could be a slight change again. We appreciate your understanding with these changes, so we are able to give the best possible service to our students.

Please note who your student's counselor is this year.
