Parent Message 3-20-22
Posted on 03/21/2022

Dear Falcon Families,

I hope you are having a good Sunday. As a reminder, tomorrow is a minimum day. School will begin at 10:55am and will end at 3:33pm. Campus will open at 10am for students. I am hopeful that you find some time this week to take the parent version of the CA Healthy Kids Survey. The survey yields valuable insight into how we are doing as a school so please do take the time to complete it. I believe it takes about 20 minutes. This week, our Falcon Playhouse is putting on their production of Beauty and the Beast. Tickets are on sale now (see the link below). Additionally, our What I Wish My Parents Knew Event is this Thursday, March 24th from 5:30 – 8pm. Walk-ins are welcome and I’ve also included the RSVP link below. We hope you can join us! See below for all of the latest updates as of 3-20-22.

* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

California Health Kids Survey – Parent Version – Closes March 25th – Please Remember to Take the Survey!

The California Healthy Kids Survey is one of the most essential pieces of data we use to assess our progress as a school in terms of school culture, safety, school connectedness, promotion of parental involvement, etc. Traditionally, we have an extremely low participation rate from parents and we’d like to change that this year. We'd like to ask you to complete this online survey to learn more about your opinions of Scripps Ranch High. This Link: CA Healthy Kids Parent Survey Info explains the survey and, at the bottom of the page, provides your parent-survey URL and access instructions. Students have a different link and will be taking the survey in class this week. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, and improve student achievement.

Counseling Updates

Extended Day Remediation Courses

Our school may have the rare opportunity to offer an Extended Day Course for students who need to remediate a semester of Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Math 1 or Integrated Math 2, if they earned a D or F grade. Grades earned can be confirmed by viewing the student transcript in the PowerSchool Student Portal. The benefit of Extended Day is students can remediate a course by attending 3 hours of class per week, for just 5 weeks (total of 15 hours). The specific dates for the classes have not been finalized, but they would be offered between April 11th- May 13th. If students are interested in this option, please have them stop by the Counseling Office tables to sign up OR they can complete the google form sent to their student email account from Sandy Kish by the end of the school day on Monday, March 21st.

CCAP College Courses Requests for 2022-23

Some students who requested a college course next year have not completed all required items needed to qualify for next year’s CCAP college courses. An email was sent from Justina Estrada to students missing items. Please ask your student to check their student account. If these items are not completed while schedules are being created, students can lose their chance of getting into a college course.

New FAFSA Deadline for Class of 2022!

Students now have until April 1, 2022 to complete their FAFSA/CADAA and still meet the priority deadline. CalSoap is now offering direct one on one support from a College Readiness Coach to our current senior students and their parents Monday thru Thursday from 8:30am – 3:00pm.  Here is a link to access and book zoom appointments:
