Dear Falcon Families,
Our SRHS Visual Arts Film Festival, hosted by Mrs. Francisco, Mr. Jacobs, Ms. Brady, and Mr Wilson is taking place this Friday, April 28th. Please come and enjoy the amazing work our SRHS students have created. The event begins at 7:30pm. In today’s message, I’ve shared a message from the director of the Miramar College Firefighter academy about training burns and a message from SDPD SWAT regarding active shooter training. Both of these exercises will be taking place in the Scripps Ranch community so the organizations want to give you a heads up to not be alarmed. See the respective blurbs below for the full details along with the accompanying maps. I hope you are enjoying your Sunday and see below for the latest updates as of 4-23-23.
* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

Drug Prevention Assembly and Presentation - Reminder
There will be an extended advisory time on 4/26 & 4/27 to allow our students to hear from DEA Agent Rocky Herron and SD County Sheriff Crime Lab Director Jennifer Harmon in an engaging presentation about the harms of drug use, including fentanyl. Rocky has presented at numerous schools across the district including a recent stop at Marshall Middle. He'll return to Marshall on 4/25 for the Scripps Ranch Community Drug Prevention Presentation at 6:15pm, joined by Jennifer Harmon and Bill Perno, a NARCAN Educator from SAY San Diego. This presentation is available for all SRHS families to attend in person or virtually to learn how to identify the symptoms of a potential overdose and how to administer NARCAN. If you are planning to attend virtually, click here to register. No registration needed if you're planning to attend in person. Community Meeting Flyer

Counseling Updates
Extended Day (English and Spanish): There will be an opportunity for students to remediate a semester of English and/or Spanish class starting the week of May 1st. The courses will last 5 weeks long, ending by June 2nd. All classes are being taught with a combination of in person and asynchronous instruction. Classes will give 4 hour’s worth of instruction/work a week for a total of 20 hours. In-person class days require that students be present during the assigned class time. For Asynchronous assigned days, teachers will give students work to do on their own. Details about the classes, along with a link to sign up, were sent to student email accounts on Friday, 4/14 from Sandy Kish. Here is the link to the Extended Day Course Request Form we sent students. Students must sign into google using their district login information to have access to the google form. Classes will be filled on a first come basis. The deadline to submit the form is April 24th. All students who are enrolled in an Extended Day class will receive a confirmation email in their student email account from Sandy Kish on April 28th.

Transcript Request (Seniors): Class of 2023, if your student has been admitted to a college/university or needs a transcript submitted for any other reason to a college/university, they must request their SRHS transcript through Xello (National Student Clearinghouse) only. They should not email their request or request through the alumni transcript request link. Students go to Clever.com to access their Xello account. Further instructions are on the SRHS Counseling website through this link: https://docs.google.com/file/d/1A-kEChNgLEEmVtex-NIBmRZt707g4FGEZpHwX0nGW5U/preview Students must request at least two weeks in advance as there is a high volume of students requesting transcripts. Most (not all) due dates are May 1st for midyear transcripts to be submitted. Once an electronic request is made in Xello, they are not required to follow up with the registrar. Students can check the status of their transcript submission in their Xello account. Once the request is submitted, it could take up to two weeks to see confirmation of their transcript being sent in Xello and/or received by their college/university.
