Parent Message 5-21-23
Posted on 05/21/2023

Dear Falcon Families,

Congratulations to our top 1% of graduating seniors: Shabdika Gubba, Kavya Gurunath, Michael He, Shivanshi Sharma, Kevin Zhao, Grace Li, and Albert Liu. We had a lot of fun celebrating at the SDUSD Salute to Excellence celebration this past Thursday. To all of our SRHS students 16 and over, if you want to win a car, check out our SRHS FalconPride Instagram for details. We’ll announce the winner during our June 2nd Goodbye Rally. This past Thursday we had an apprenticeship/job fair on campus with over 30 representatives. I hope students enjoyed talking to all the different representatives and learning about the numerous opportunities. Congratulations to our AFJROTC Unit CA-935 who were just named as a Distinguished Unit for the 2022-23 school year. This designation means they are recognized as one of the top JROTC units in the nation. Congrats to our cadets and thank you MSgt. Toledo for your leadership. In today’s update, I’ve included information about our upcoming CAASPP testing, some graduation information for families who may have missed it on Thursday, and more. See below for the latest updates as of 5-21-23.

CAASPP UPDATE - Reminder

As a reminder, CAASPP testing will take place next week Monday May 22 through Thursday May 25. These days will be block schedule with no advisory period. All Juniors taking the CAASPP must bring their fully charged district-issued computers; they cannot use personal laptops for the state test. Students may use their personal headphones. If they do not have them students can go to the library for a pair. All students are required to be at school during the testing week as regular instruction will take place when students are not directly involved in testing. This test is important, as it is one of the few standardized tests administered statewide, and provides data about our school to the public. For example, our ranking as a top academic school is partially based on the results of the CAASPP exam. If we want to continue to have a reputation for being a top-ranked school, we need students to do their best on the test. In addition to providing data about the school, individual results are also available to each student from the state (once the tests are scored and posted). Therefore, the CAASPP is an excellent tool to diagnose where a student’s strengths and areas of need may be in math, English, and science. Any specific questions about CAASPP testing please contact Associate Principal, Ashley Gay [email protected].
