Dear Falcon Families,

Congratulations to our badminton standouts who have had a great season of tournament finishes. During the rookie tournament, Sean Chen and Sarayu Simma finished second in the mixed doubles, Andrew Saluta and Lexi Lee were semifinalists, Sean Chen was a semifinalist in the men’s singles, and Mayank Sharma and Ojas Gupta were semifinalists in the men’s doubles. Jaden Seangmany and Vansh Vinod completed an undefeated season playing boys doubles, including 3 tournament wins and a #1 seed heading into the CIF playoffs. Jaden Seangmany was also the boys singles champion at the Canyon Hills Varsity Tournament beating the #1 seed from UC High School. To finish off a stellar badminton regular season, Jaden Seangmany and Alice Nguyen were mixed doubles runners up at the Madison Invitational Tournament and Karina Ford was the girls singles runner up at the Mira Mesa Stay Classy Invitational Tournament. Congratulations to our badminton standouts and good luck heading into playoffs. Picture 1, Picture 2, Picture 3, Picture 4, Picture 5, Picture 6

In other exciting sports news, our boys volleyball team advanced to the 4th round of the CIF Open Division Championship with a win on Tuesday over Bishop’s and a win on Thursday over Carlsbad. They play Tuesday at 7pm at SRHS. Come out and root for the boys, who are the #1 seed, to win on Tuesday and advance to the CIF Championship. We also have our boys and girls lacrosse teams beginning their playoffs this week so there is a lot to look forward to.

Future Athletes for the 2023-24 School Year Important Updates

CAASPP UPDATE - Reminder

As a reminder, CAASPP testing will take place the week of Monday, May 22, through Thursday, May 25. These days will be block schedule with no advisory period. All Juniors taking the CAASPP must bring their fully charged district-issued computers; they cannot use personal laptops for the state test. Students may use their personal headphones and if they do not have them we will issue them for use on the test. All students are required to be at school during the testing week, as regular instruction will take place when students are not directly involved in testing. This test is important, as it is one of the few standardized tests administered statewide, and provides data about our school to the public. For example, our ranking as a top academic school is partially based on the results of the CAASPP. If we want to continue to have a reputation for being a top-ranked school, we need students to do their best on the test. In addition to providing data about the school, individual results are also available to each student from the state (once the tests are scored and posted). Therefore, the CAASPP is an excellent tool to diagnose where a student’s strengths and areas of need may be in math, English, and science. Any specific questions about CAASPP testing please contact Associate Principal, Ashley Gay [email protected].

Falcon Festival

This Thursday, May 11th, we will be hosting the Falcon Festival. It is an after school event being held in the quad to give an opportunity for students, families and friends to relax after AP testing and discover different parts of SRHS that they may have not known about before. The carnival-themed festivities will last from 4-6pm. ASB will be selling food, refreshments and hosting games. A few clubs have opted into selling during the event as well. There will also be periodic performances, including percussion at 4:30pm, dance at 5:00pm, and an improv preview at 5:30pm. There will be a full improv show afterwards starting at 6:00pm in the theater.

E-Waste Recycling Drive

Electronic waste is known to contain heavy metals such as mercury and lead, which if placed in the landfill, can harm people and the environment. Help protect our Earth by participating in our ASB hosted E-waste recycling drive! You can drop off any E-waste (old phones or tablets, charging cords, batteries, etc.)  in the red bins located in the ASB room, office, or library. The drive ends on Friday, May 12th. Flyer
