Parent Message 6-12-22
Posted on 06/12/2022

I want to wish a congratulations to MSgt. Toledo who was named as one of the 2022 AFJROTC Outstanding Instructor Award Recipients. This is a NATIONAL award and a testament to his character and leadership abilities. We are lucky to have him as part of our SRHS community. We’ve almost made it to the end of the 2021-22 school year. We are really looking forward to celebrating our senior class at graduation on Tuesday. I will send out one more update next Sunday to close out the school year. After that I will send updates as needed during the summer. See below for the latest updates as of 6-12-22.

* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

Counseling Updates

SRHS Summer School

Students who have already signed up for summer school received an email from our counseling secretary, Sandy Kish, in their student account on Friday, June 3rd. If your student did not receive an email in their student account and think they need summer school, please have them go see their counselor during lunch. Prior to summer school starting, your student will receive another email in their student account with more information about how they can access their summer school schedule. The summer school administrator, Amy Hines, will also send an email to parents via the school messenger.  If you know your student needs summer school and they do not receive any messages saying they are enrolled, please have them come to SRHS on Tuesday, June 21st at 8:30 A.M.

This summer there are two sessions for students to remediate up to 4 semesters of courses (4 credits), 2 classes each session. Each session is 3 weeks long. Session 1 is June 21st- July 8th (July 4th is a holiday, so there is no school that day) and session 2 is July 11th – July 29th. School hours are 9:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. If a student only needs to make up one class, they will only need to attend school for the 2 hours their class is in session. Students who miss more than 2 days will be dropped from summer school.

School sites are still working with the district on finalizing summer school and scheduling students.

Summer Level-Up Opportunities

Click here to be directed to the district summer school website. If you scroll to the bottom of their webpage you will see listing information for the Level-Up Programs. You can also find the contact information for the summer school office that handles all Level Up summer school offerings that are not part of the daytime remediation program at the high school.

Level Up UC Scout Summer Classes

This is regarding the UC Scout AP courses being offered through the district Level Up Enrichment Summer Program. The summer school office received UC SCOUT access codes and communicated those to families on May 21 and May 22. If a student did not receive communication at that time, it means they are on a waitlist. They had many more requests than access codes available. If your student receives an email with an access code, make sure they sign up in the time frame given in the message so they do not lose their spot. Students on the waitlist could still receive a code in the future if space opens-up.  UPDATE: SDUSD is working to get additional access codes to courses. The district will send out additional invitations based on a lottery process this weekend. If students have questions about the UC Scout classes offered through the district, they should contact the Extended Opportunities Offices[email protected], since high School counselors are not involved in this process.

Courses taken outside of the School District (SDUSD)- Applies to courses taken while enrolled at SRHS

Please be aware that grades from other institutions outside of SDUSD authorized classes/programs will NOT be added to the student’s transcript at SRHS. Students taking these classes will get the recognition when they apply to college by adding the institution to their college application and including the course title and grade earned.

SDUSD classes and authorized programs (e.g., Level-up summer classes offered through our district) can go on the transcript per usual. Students may speak with a counselor if they have any questions.

SENIOR (Class of 2022)

Final Transcript Requests for Seniors: As students decide what their plans are for next year, they may need to request a final transcript sent on their behalf once they

have earned their diploma. Please click here for information to share with your student about requesting their Final Transcript. Once a student has submitted their request they will receive an auto-response confirming their form was received, they do not need to send a follow-up email.

That’s all for today. Thanks and I hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Sincerely,

Matt Lawson, Ed.D
