Dear Falcon Families,

 

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday evening. I want to give you a reminder that we will have our Virtual Open House this coming Tuesday at 5pm. Families can log on live via Zoom or watch pre-recorded videos once they are posted this Friday, September 17th. The details are below. Also, this Friday we will have a late start minimum day with school beginning at 10:55am. Included in this update is information about how to sign up for one of our school committees, some safety information/reminders, counseling updates and more. Here are the latest updates as of 9-12-21.

Late Start Minimum Day Friday, September 17th.

Friday, September 17th will be a minimum day. School will begin at 10:55am. Here is the bell schedule for that day:
Period 1: 10:55 – 11:30am

Period 2: 11:38 – 12:11pm

Period 3: 12:19 – 12:52pm

Lunch: 1:00 – 1:30pm

Period 4: 1:38 – 2:11pm

Period 5: 2:19 – 2:52pm

Period 6: 3:00 – 3:33pm

 

Fall Open House

Fall Open House festivities will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14th. Please begin by clicking on the link embedded in the “Open House Student Schedule” document to watch the pre-recorded Principal’s welcome message. All teachers will hold live ten-minute sessions via zoom. Teachers will be sharing their Zoom meeting IDs, passwords, and links with students on Monday and Tuesday during class. For security purposes, all parents will need to log in using their child’s school ID and password from their sandi.net account. We have created this document for your student to collect login information from each of their teachers: Link: Open House Student Schedule – when you click open, it will force you to make a copy so your students can add their unique Zoom information to the document.  If you are not able to attend the live sessions or have technology trouble we will make all teachers recorded sessions available on the School website Open House banner that will go live on Friday, September 17th. 

 

SRHS School Committees and Parent Volunteers

School Site Council (SSC) meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 3:45pm while Site Governance Team (SGT) Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 3:45pm. This year, we have two parent vacancies for SSC and one parent vacancy for SGT.  Please complete this Google Form: SRHS School Committees and Parent Volunteers if you are interesting in being a part of one or both of these committees. Also included in the Google Form are options to indicate if you are interested in participating in other, non-election groups/events such as the English Learner Advisory Council and No Place for Hate sponsored activities. I will take the names submitted for SSC and SGT and create an electronic ballot to be sent out next week for both SSC and SGT elections.

 

LCFF Form Data Collection

An email was sent to families on September 10, 2021 regarding data collection from our families.  This data helps to determine our Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF)  funding from the state.  It is critical that we collect this data from every family to ensure our school receives all the state funding to which it is entitled. Athletic Testing

We sincerely apologize that all student athletes were required to get tested this past week. The good news is we were able to get access to the San Diego Immunization Registry (SDIR) system so we can now verify the list of unvaccinated athletes. Beginning this week, only unvaccinated athletes are required to be tested. Weekly, coaches will be provided a list of who needs to be tested.

Counseling Updates

Counselor Availability 

Now that we are entering our third week of school, students can reach their counselor by submitting a "Request to See Counselor" Form (found in front of the counseling office) or stopping by the counseling office during lunch. Students can also stop by the counseling office before or after school to see if their counselor is available. Please share this information with your student(s).

Stay in the Know 

Counselors will be using the counseling website (srhscounseling.com) to share information with students, including important upcoming dates. Please make sure your student is aware of this website and checks their grade level page for pertinent information this year. Items get added throughout the year. In addition to the counseling website, the counselors also share information through an Instagram page "srhs.counseling", as well as a seniors only Instagram page, "srhs.seniorvision_2022", and through their student email account.

Senior Students

Student Transcript may NOT be sent to colleges: If an Enrollment Form has not been submitted to the school, or the form is submitted but the parent/guardian checks off "No" on box 32A, then transcripts and letters of recommendation will NOT be sent to colleges, the NCAA or scholarship organizations.  If you need to change your response to "yes" for box 32A, please email Grace Parra (gparra@sandi.net). If you still need to submit the Enrollment Form, please have your student pick it up in the attendance office and after it is completed have it turned into Grace Parra.

Senior College Presentation and Supports: The Senior College Presentation will be given during English classes on 9/22 & 9/23. The presentation, college application guides and resources that will be made available on the counseling website. Counselors will also be offering one-on-one meetings for seniors to discuss post-secondary plans. Students will be given information about how to sign up for a meeting in the presentation. Counselors will also be available to assist students with college applications from October 13th-November 18th, exact days and times will be shared during the presentation.
