SRHS Weekly Updates as of 1-25-26
Posted on 01/25/2026

Dear Falcon Families,

We hope this message finds you well as we move into the final stretch of January. This week marks week four of the six-week progress grading period, and there are several important updates and reminders we’d like to share.

At this point in the semester, teachers are actively updating grades from the first few weeks of instruction. If your student is struggling, we encourage them to take advantage of our academic support opportunities, including Extended Day, peer tutoring, and SR6 (Saturday School). These programs are excellent resources for catching up, reinforcing skills, or getting ahead. Additionally, planning for Summer School 2026 is underway—more information coming soon.

Winter CIF championships are almost here, so get ready to come out and cheer on our Falcon student athletes (athletics LINK). For updated information on all our fantastic programs at Scripps Ranch High School, please visit our website, or the following links: Athletics go HERE, Falcon Playhouse go HERE, Music Program (marching band in the fall) go HERE, ASB updates go HERE, and AFROTC program go HERE

Thank you, as always, to the Scripps Ranch High School Foundation for all their support and for offering the Wednesday Career Series. The series begins this week on January 28. See below for more information.

In this week’s announcements, please check out details and reminders about upcoming spring sport tryouts for student athletes, the “Sips for Scripps” fundraiser, the 2026-2027 School Year Calendar, SR6 (Saturday School), The Wednesday Career series, and more.

Those teachers who are offering revision/reassessment opportunities will have communicated with their students. We encourage all students who have scheduled revision/reassessment opportunities to take advantage of this time to hone their learning.

Spring Sports Tryouts - Reminder

Spring sports tryouts begin in February. See this spring sports schedule for the dates and times.

Planning an absence, late arrival, or early dismissal? Follow these steps - Reminder
Step 1: Select SRHS Early Release Request  |  SRHS Absence/Late Arrival Notification
Step 2: You must use your email address that’s in PowerSchool  (others will be blocked).
Step 3: 24-hour notice is highly recommended.
Only forms submitted by authorized parents/guardians will be processed.

Counseling Updates

Seniors - Information about how to request a midyear transcript for college applications was sent to your student email and your senior google classroom last week. Please read thoroughly, as midyear transcripts are not required for all college applications, and some are automatically sent, while others must be requested individually.

Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors: As of last week, counselors have met one-on-one with all students in their English classes to confirm course selections for next year. The final day to submit a parent-signed course change request form is Wednesday, January 28. This deadline allows the school to create the master schedule and finalize student schedules on time. The next opportunity to request changes will be during Kick Off, just before the start of the school year.

Summer School 2026:  Click here for district information on summer school dates, times, and locations. At this time, the website lists credit recovery options only. Scripps Ranch High School will be one of the in-person summer school sites. Please note that no online credit recovery options will be available this summer in the district.

Students who would like to remediate a D or F earned in a graduation-required course should submit the summer school form  to their counselor by March 25.

Calendar for the 2026-27 School Year - Reminder

We understand that families often plan events, trips, and vacations well in advance. To support scheduling these fun events with your family, I am providing the important dates for the 2026-27 school year below. To maximize your child’s success, please schedule vacations outside of our finals weeks. Missing finals requires students to make arrangements with their teachers after grades close, which creates challenges for both staff and students and could hinder their success. Here are the important dates for the 2026-27 school year:

  • SRHS Annual Kick-Off Dates: Please save the following dates for our annual SRHS Kick-Off event. This is an important event where students return to campus to prepare for the upcoming school year.
  • 9th & 10th Grade: Wednesday, July 29
  • 11th & 12th Grade: Thursday, July 30
  • For more information, please view the event flyer here.
  • School will begin on Monday, August 10th.
  • Semester 1 finals will be the week of December 14th.
  • Semester 2 finals will be the week of May 24th; seniors the week of May 17th
  • The last day of school next year is May 26th.
  • Most likely the graduation ceremony will be May 26th.

SR6 Semester Two - Reminder

Our next session will be held Saturday January 31st, hosted by Ms. Bellotti, one of our math teachers. The flyer is updated with S2 dates and scheduled teachers. SR6 (Scripps Ranch 6) is an academic support available to all students. It is a 6th day of school hosted on select Saturdays for four hours, 8am-12pm. A breakfast and lunch meal is available for all students attending Core Academy at no charge. Signing up by the Wednesday prior, and selecting “yes” to breakfast and lunch guarantees it will be available for your student. SR6 is also an avenue for students to recover their attendance (AZTWs in PowerSchool) to remain eligible for school events. View Semester 25-26 SR6 Dates or flyer with all sign up forms

That’s all for today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Sincerely,

Matt Lawson, Ed.D

Principal
