SRHS Weekly Updates as of 11-16-25
Posted on 11/17/2025

One week left until Thanksgiving break. Students and staff are all looking forward to some rest and relaxation with friends and family. When we return, we’ll have three weeks remaining until winter break and the end of semester one. As we get close to finishing the semester, please remind your students to check their grades and take advantage of any opportunities to improve by talking with their teachers and using our tutoring resources.

Before we head into the break, I want to highlight a couple of outstanding accomplishments from our athletic programs:

  • A huge congratulations to our women’s volleyball team, who put together an incredible postseason run. They first captured the CIF Division I City Championship, then advanced to the State Championship where they won their opening-round match. This past Thursday, they battled Cypress High through five intense, neck-and-neck sets before ultimately falling in the second round. A big shout-out to our cheer team for being there and ensuring our visitor stands were just as loud as the home stands. Congratulations ladies on an outstanding season!

  • Congratulations to both our girls’ and boys’ cross country teams on an exceptional week of performances. Yesterday, both teams finished 2nd at the CIF Championships and have therefore qualified for the State Championships in two weeks. The boys’ race came down to the wire, falling to Mt. Carmel by just three points in a thriller. For the season, special recognitions go to:

    • Brandon Sun: Senior of the Year for the Western League

    • Olivia Liu: Sophomore of the Year and a new school record on the Morley Field course

  • Congratulations to our football team, who had an exciting 4th-quarter comeback to beat El Camino High School and advance to Round 3 of the CIF Division II Championship. They’ll take on Santa Fe Christian High School this Friday @ Santa Fe Christian. I hope to see many of you there.

Senior families, the yearbook submission deadline is approaching quickly! Baby photos for the yearbook are due by November 21. More information is included below about submitting photos and purchasing ad space. As always, students should check their grade-level Google Classroom for updates and stay connected with the ASB Instagram page for event details and upcoming deadlines.

Thanksgiving Break

There will be no school November 24th to November 28th due to the Thanksgiving Day Holiday and break. School will resume Monday, December 1st.

Reminder of Modified Monday

As a reminder, every Monday is a Modified Monday, with school dismissal at 2:29pm. If students need to see their teachers during this time, they should follow up with their teacher in order to schedule a meeting.

School Registrar Closed Over Thanksgiving Break

Due to Thanksgiving break, access to registrar Google forms for specific requests will be inactive beginning Thursday November 20th. Access to registrar Google forms will resume upon return from Thanksgiving break on December 1st.

For all walk in questions, good driver forms, SSA forms, questions on Parchment transcript submissions and registrar related information, please visit the registrar's office by Thursday, November 20th before school, during advisory (with permission from your teacher) or during lunch.

Counseling

November 14th thru November 19th, counselors will be off campus reviewing all student course requests, inputting missing requests and correcting errors made during student inputting. Therefore, it may take longer to return emails and we will not be able to schedule meetings.

Students who did not submit their articulation card on time should bring the card to Janay Brown in the counseling office. If you misplaced your card and still need to submit your requests, there is a printable PDF version on the counseling website on each grade level page. Student Portal is no longer accepting requests, so counselors will input courses from the submitted cards.

Next SR6 Saturday Session, December 6th

SR6 (Scripps Ranch 6) is an academic support available to all students. It is a 6th day of school hosted on select Saturdays for four hours, 8am-12pm. Our next session will be held Saturday December 6th and will be hosted by Mr. Batchelor (Math, Rm 700). A breakfast and lunch meal is available for all students attending Core Academy at no charge. Signing up by Wednesday, and selecting “yes” to breakfast and lunch guarantees it will be available for your student. SR6 is also an avenue for students to recover their attendance (AZTWs in PowerSchool) to remain eligible for school events. View Semester 25-26 SR6 Dates or flyer with all sign up forms.

Yearbook Submission Deadline is November 21st - Senior Families - Reminder
It's time to submit your Senior's BABY PHOTO for the yearbook. If you'd like more space to show your love for your soon to be graduate then purchase a Senior Ad in the yearbook and fill it with your favorite photos and messages. Act soon, Baby Photos are due November 21st and Ad Space is limited.

Wednesday College Series

The Scripps Ranch High School Foundation is excited to announce the final Wednesday College Series for 2025 will be on November 19. Presentations will feature the US Air Force Academy and Cal State San Marcos. All students are welcome at lunch (12:55-1:25), in the library. Complete the 2025–26 Impact Aid Survey Today - Reminder

The annual Impact Aid Survey is now open in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Families are asked to complete the form by Friday, December 19, 2025.

Impact Aid provides essential federal funding that supports all students across San Diego Unified—including those living on or near federal property such as military bases.

How to complete the form:

  • Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal.

  • Select Forms.

  • Choose 2025–26 Impact Aid Program Survey Form.

  • Sign and submit.

If you cannot access the Parent Portal, a paper version will be available in January.

If you need help accessing the Parent Portal or setting up an account, visit the Parent Portal resource webpage or contact our site tech, Jason Lyons, [email protected].

Every completed survey helps bring valuable resources to our schools, so thank you in advance for your participation.

Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up - Reminder

At Scripps Ranch High, during pick-up and drop-off times has been a problem since our school has “one way in and one way out.” In order to limit traffic as much as possible, we are asking parents/guardians to drop off their students in designated locations on the East Side of Falcon Way, Scripps Lake Drive, or Treena Street. See this Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up for details. Please do not park along any curbs that are painted red in front of the theatre or at the top of Falcon Way; these are to be kept open in case of emergency. View these Traffic Safety Tips for drivers and students from SDUSD.

That’s all for today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Sincerely,

Matt Lawson, Ed.D

Principal

Scripps Ranch High School
