SRHS Weekly Updates as of 11-2-25
Posted on 11/02/2025

Dear Falcon Families,

November is here! And hopefully the extra hour of sleep helped everyone’s transition into a new month. Last week we all had a great time seeing the students and staff in their Halloween costumes and the students had fun before the game at “Trunk or Treat.” This past weekend our Marching Band hosted the Falcon Invitational with tremendous success. For more information about our marching band and to find ways to get involved, go HERE. For information about our next Falcon Playhouse theater production, “Mama Mia!,” please go HERE

The countdown to Thanksgiving break begins! There are many fun and exciting events to look forward to in our community. Our student athletes continue to impress as CIF playoffs for fall sports begin. Our Falcons are hoping you can come and cheer them on, so please check out HERE for information about dates, locations, and all other SRHS athletics information, including scores and pictures.

On Friday, October 31st, the second progress report grading period ended. Teachers will be posting grades on Monday and the grades will be available to view this coming week. As you review your students’ grades, if you find they are struggling in any subjects, please encourage them to seek support and take advantage of the resources available on campus.

November signals the start of the winter holidays and lots of traditions; one here at Scripps Ranch in particular is the annual Air Force JROTC holiday canned food drive. Ask your students to be on the lookout for the big blue bins in their teachers’ classrooms, and then please donate those extra cans of food to help feed those in need in the winter months, and all year round.

As a reminder, there will be no school Monday, November 10th, or Tuesday, November 11th. As always, please remind your students to check their grade level Google Classroom for updates and stay connected with the ASB Instagram page (link above) for event details and upcoming deadlines. In this week’s announcements, please check out details regarding Cell Phone Numbers and SPAM, SR6 (Saturday School), Extended day, the deadline for the yearbook submission, an Impact Aid Survey, and more.

Does Your Cell Phone Think Our Phone Number is SPAM?

Have you ever tried to call Scripps Ranch High School at (858) 302-3400 from your cell phone, only to be told by your phone that the number is SPAM, and the call would not connect?

Evidently, this is due to SPAM settings by individual cell phone carriers. Many T-Mobile customers, for example, seem to have this problem.  There may be others.

Our district IT Department doesn’t have the ability to service people’s personal phones.  If you are having this problem, the IT Department advises contacting your personal cell phone provider to adjust your spam settings.  They also suggest that parents enter Scripps Ranch High School in their contacts so that the phone recognizes the number.

If your cell phone believes our phone number is SPAM, it also blocks our phones from calling you.

Next SR6 Saturday Session, November 8th

SR6 (Scripps Ranch 6) is an academic support available to all students. It is a 6th day of school hosted on select Saturdays for four hours, 8am-12pm. Our next session will be held Saturday November 8th and will be hosted by Mr. Laverty (English, Rm 953). A breakfast and lunch meal is available for all students attending Core Academy at no charge. Signing up by Wednesday, and selecting “yes” to breakfast and lunch guarantees it will be available for your student. SR6 is also an avenue for students to recover their attendance (AZTWs in PowerSchool) to remain eligible for school events. View Semester 25-26 SR6 Dates or flyer with all sign up forms.

Complete the 2025–26 Impact Aid Survey Today

The annual Impact Aid Survey is now open in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Families are asked to complete the form by Friday, December 19, 2025.

Impact Aid provides essential federal funding that supports all students across San Diego Unified—including those living on or near federal property such as military bases.

How to complete the form:

  • Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal.
  • Select Forms.
  • Choose 2025–26 Impact Aid Program Survey Form.
  • Sign and submit.

If you cannot access the Parent Portal, a paper version will be available in January.

If you need help accessing the Parent Portal or setting up an account, visit the Parent Portal resource webpage or contact our site tech, Jason Lyons, [email protected].

Every completed survey helps bring valuable resources to our schools, so thank you in advance for your participation.

Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up - Reminder

At Scripps Ranch High, during pick-up and drop-off times has been a problem since our school has “one way in and one way out.” In order to limit traffic as much as possible, we are asking parents/guardians to drop off their students in designated locations on the East Side of Falcon Way, Scripps Lake Drive, or Treena Street. See this Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up for details. Please do not park along any curbs that are painted red in front of the theatre or at the top of Falcon Way; these are to be kept open in case of emergency. View these Traffic Safety Tips for drivers and students from SDUSD.

That’s all for today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Sincerely,

Matt Lawson, Ed.D

Principal

Scripps Ranch High School
