SRHS Weekly Updates as of 11-9-25

Posted on 11/10/2025

Dear Falcon Families,

We hope you are enjoying the three day (four, for the students) weekend so far (no school on Monday, due to a non-instructional day, and Tuesday, due to the Veterans Day holiday). If you are interested, here’s a link to the History of Veterans Day. A big thank you to all of our veterans in the Scripps Ranch community.

This week marks two weeks remaining until Thanksgiving break, which will begin on 11/24. When we return from break, it’s hard to believe, but we’ll be in the final weeks of semester one, with three weeks until winter break. Finals week starts 12/15 and the end of semester one is 12/19.

Our fall teams are heading into some exciting playoff action, and the band is preparing for their remaining competitions. Boys Water Polo and Girls Field Hockey played last week in their first playoff games and Field Hockey is advancing, set to play the coming Tuesday. For more information about our marching band and to find ways to get involved, go HERE. For information about our next Falcon Playhouse theater production, “Mama Mia!,” please go HERE. And for more information about our athletics schedule and CIF playoffs, to HERE  (you’ll find information about dates, locations, and all other SRHS athletics information, including scores and pictures).

Please see below for information about the Federal Impact Aid Survey. The survey is open in the Parent Portal and we ask that you complete it by December 19, 2025.

Last week, Progress Report Cards (for the second six week grading period) went out via the district’s digital delivery system. If you are unsure about your access, please see below for information about how to ensure you are receiving all information and documents. As we approach the Thanksgiving break, please remind your students to check their grades and take advantage of any opportunities to improve by talking to their teachers and taking advantage of tutoring resources. Students should also check their grade level Google Classroom for updates and stay connected with the ASB Instagram page for event details and upcoming deadlines.

In this week’s announcements, please check out details about whether or not your phone identifies our number as SPAM (and how to fix), Yearbook deadlines, our Wednesday College Series, SR6 (Saturday School), The Impact Aid Survey, Student Drop-off and Pick-up guidelines, the progress report card digital delivery, and more.

Enjoy the rest of the long weekend!  See below for the latest updates as of 11-9-25.

Does Your Cell Phone Think Our Phone Number is SPAM? - Reminder

Have you ever tried to call Scripps Ranch High School at (858) 302-3400 from your cell phone, only to be told by your phone that the number is SPAM, and the call would not connect?

Evidently, this is due to SPAM settings by individual cell phone carriers. Many T-Mobile customers, for example, seem to have this problem.  There may be others.

Our district IT Department doesn’t have the ability to service people’s personal phones.  If you are having this problem, the IT Department advises contacting your personal cell phone provider to adjust your spam settings.  They also suggest that parents enter Scripps Ranch High School in their contacts so that the phone recognizes the number.

If your cell phone believes our phone number is SPAM, it also blocks our phones from calling you.

Next SR6 Saturday Session, December 6th

SR6 (Scripps Ranch 6) is an academic support available to all students. It is a 6th day of school hosted on select Saturdays for four hours, 8am-12pm. Our next session will be held Saturday December 6th and will be hosted by Mr. Batchelor (Math, Rm 700). A breakfast and lunch meal is available for all students attending Core Academy at no charge. Signing up by Wednesday, and selecting “yes” to breakfast and lunch guarantees it will be available for your student. SR6 is also an avenue for students to recover their attendance (AZTWs in PowerSchool) to remain eligible for school events. View Semester 25-26 SR6 Dates or flyer with all sign up forms.

Progress Report Cards - Grade Report Delivery System (directions and help)

As part of the district’s ongoing efforts to streamline communication and provide timely updates, progress reports and semester reports cards will continue to be sent out via digital document delivery this year. Please take a moment to:

1. Verify that the digital document email address is up-to-date in PowerSchool

2. Ensure that you are opted into digital document delivery.

When a document is sent using the service, you will receive an email from [email protected] and a link to the document download portal where you can view or download the PDF. Please note:

  • You will have 7 days to download the document
  • If you have set a password set in the document delivery preferences, you will be required each time you open the document.

Complete the 2025–26 Impact Aid Survey Today - Reminder

The annual Impact Aid Survey is now open in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Families are asked to complete the form by Friday, December 19, 2025.

Impact Aid provides essential federal funding that supports all students across San Diego Unified—including those living on or near federal property such as military bases.

How to complete the form:

  • Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal.
  • Select Forms.
  • Choose 2025–26 Impact Aid Program Survey Form.
  • Sign and submit.

If you cannot access the Parent Portal, a paper version will be available in January.

If you need help accessing the Parent Portal or setting up an account, visit the Parent Portal resource webpage or contact our site tech, Jason Lyons, [email protected].

Every completed survey helps bring valuable resources to our schools, so thank you in advance for your participation.

Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up - Reminder

At Scripps Ranch High, during pick-up and drop-off times has been a problem since our school has “one way in and one way out.” In order to limit traffic as much as possible, we are asking parents/guardians to drop off their students in designated locations on the East Side of Falcon Way, Scripps Lake Drive, or Treena Street. See this Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up for details. Please do not park along any curbs that are painted red in front of the theatre or at the top of Falcon Way; these are to be kept open in case of emergency. View these Traffic Safety Tips for drivers and students from SDUSD.

That’s all for today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Sincerely,

Matt Lawson, Ed.D

Principal
