Dear Falcon Families,
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Fabulous Falcon moms and mom figures out there! I hope you get to have some quality time with your family today.
Our Falcons are extra busy these last few weeks of school. For our seniors, prom will take place at Bloom Nightclub this Saturday. Last week we completed our first week of AP testing, and tomorrow we begin our final week. Our Falcon Playhouse closed an incredible blackbox production of “12 Angry Jurors,” and our music program presented the “From Script to Screen” show, with outstanding performances from all musicians. Our incomparable Air Force cadets participated in the Brigade Annual Awards Ceremony & Pass in Review, taking home numerous trophies including the most coveted and prestigious, Stilwell Trophy, for the 5th year in a row and the 9th time in the last 13 years—an impressive tradition of excellence. Congratulations to all cadets, and thank you to Major Francis and SMSgt Guardado for your leadership!
In athletics, we offer congratulations to the Boys Volleyball team who won their playoff game last Wednesday Night against Sage Creek after initially being down 2 sets to none. Spring sports are still going strong as many teams qualify for CIF playoff games. And a special note for athletes:
See below for a Sports Physical Event where students can get the clearance they need to compete in the 2026-2027 school year.

We are down to our last two full weeks of school; senior finals will begin May 19th, and finals for grades 9-11 will begin May 26th. Be sure to mark your calendar: no school on May 25th for Memorial Day. To finish the year strong, students should follow up with their teachers regarding their grade, missing work, and tutoring time, and consult their grade level Google classroom for SR6 and other attendance make-up information. We are here to help!
Below you will find reminders for senior families about graduation and other important events and deadlines, upcoming SR6 opportunities, our upcoming Sports Physical Event, and much more.

Sports Physical Event
UCSD is hosting an Inaugural Physical Day at Canyon Hills High School on Saturday 6-13-26 from 8am-12pm. The optional screening fee is $10 (cash only). See additional details in the flyer. If your student plans to play a fall sport, consider attending.
Modified Monday - Monday, May 11th
As a reminder, every Monday is a modified Monday with school ending at 2:29pm. During the 2:29 - 3:23pm time window, teachers will be either (1) offering revision/reassessments for students or (2) will be meeting with their fellow colleagues to collaborate on instructional practices. Those teachers who are offering revision/reassessment opportunities will have communicated with their students. We encourage all students who have scheduled revision/reassessment opportunities to take advantage of this time to hone their learning.

Eligibility for Prom, Commencement, and Senior Events- Reminder
Seniors with any AZW codes or more than three T codes per semester from 8/25/25 onward are ineligible for Prom, Commencement, and Senior Events. See all criteria. An eligibility letter went home twice this spring. Our weekly attendance emails will continue to go home on Fridays. Please continue to check in with your student on these requirements. Attendance is one of the criteria for eligibility. See opportunities for recovery, also included in the weekly attendance notifications. Prom ticket distribution will occur Monday 5/11 to Friday 5/15, outside the counseling office during lunch only. Eligible students should bring their ID to pick up their paper ticket, which is required for prom entry.
Reminders
Our Last SR6 Session Before Prom is Saturday May 16th - Reminder
There is one SR6 session remaining the same day as prom (5/16). It will be hosted by Mrs. Lovato (math) and Mr. Garcia (theater). Students who become eligible by attending the 4-hour session, will receive their ticket at the end.
SR6 (Scripps Ranch 6) is an academic support available to all students. It is a 6th day of school hosted on select Saturdays for four hours, 8am-12pm. A breakfast and lunch meal is available for all students attending Core Academy at no charge. Signing up by the Wednesday prior, and selecting “yes” to breakfast and lunch guarantees it will be available for your student. SR6 is also an avenue for students to recover their attendance (AZTWs in PowerSchool) to remain eligible for school events. View Semester 25-26 SR6 Dates or flyer with all sign up forms.
Attendance Verification - Reminder
For any absences being verified by a parent/guardian retro-actively, please anticipate a 48 hour turn around. PowerSchool will be updated within two complete school days.
That’s all for today. Enjoy your weekend.
Sincerely,
Matt Lawson, Ed.D
Principal
