Dear Falcon Families,
Well, the end is almost here! This is our last full week of classes, and the beginning of final exams for your students. Seniors will finish their exams on Wednesday, and grades 9-11 will begin their exams next Tuesday, 5/26. As we wind down the school year, we have a lot to celebrate. AP testing concluded on Friday (with the exception of late testers and make up testers), and our Seniors danced the night away at prom this past Saturday. Coming this week are senior awards and the goodbye rally. And to cap it all off, the senior picnic is Friday. It will be a wonderful end to a fun-filled week of celebration for our Falcons.
Senior grades are due on Thursday, May 21st, giving us an opportunity to celebrate our seniors on Friday, May 22nd. Check in for the senior picnic is at 9am on Friday, in the stadium. There will be a ton of games (Spikeball, and Cornhole), music, and fun for your seniors to end the year with their peers. Seniors will not attend regular class on Friday; in lieu of class, they will attend the senior picnic.
We would like to congratulate our music program on another fantastic year, ending with an outstanding performance last week, "From Script To Screen - Music Inspired by Literature.” Some additional accomplishments of this talented ensemble include: Twelve (12) members of our string orchestra selected for district honor orchestra in March, the symphonic band and orchestra both receiving Unanimous Superior ratings at the Marshall festival in March earning them a spot in next year's all state band and orchestra festival, our winter drumline, in their third season, becoming one of 12 groups to make SCPA state finals finishing 11th place out of 54, and the Winter guard season finishing strong with a bronze medal this past weekend at WGASC state finals, the second year in a row they have medaled. In other news of celebration, congratulations to Priyan D. Gunatilake and Andreas Udall for earning runner-up trophies in the tennis doubles championship! Playoffs begin this week for our softball and baseball teams. It’s not too late to catch a game! Yearbooks are here! Pickup this week will begin Monday (for seniors), in the Quad outside of Room 501 at lunch and after school. Students must have their ID to pick up their yearbook. The schedule is as follows:
Monday 5/18: SENIORS only
Tuesday 5/19: All grades
Wednesday 5/20: All grades
Just realized you forgot to buy a book? We have 75 left - these are only available through the Finance Office starting Monday 5/18. $100 - cash/check/card.
For all students, in this final full week, it’s more important than ever for students to check their grades and follow up with their teachers regarding missing work, and make-up work, ensuring they finish the school year strong. In our updates this week, we have detailed information about Kickoff Dates for the 2026-2027 school year, graduation details, a Sports Physical Event for High School Student Athletes and for our 8th Grade Future Student Athletes, information about summer school (which begins June 4th), and more.

New Information
Modified Monday - Monday, May 17, 2026
As a reminder, every Monday is a modified Monday with school ending at 2:29pm. During the 2:29 - 3:23pm time window, teachers will be either (1) offering revision/reassessments for students or (2) will be meeting with their fellow colleagues to collaborate on instructional practices. Those teachers who are offering revision/reassessment opportunities will have communicated with their students. We encourage all students who have scheduled revision/reassessment opportunities to take advantage of this time to hone their learning.
Counseling Updates
SENIOR PARENTS: Please check with your student to confirm they have completed the “Say My Name” google form. This is mandatory for all seniors. The form was emailed to their student account. It is passed the deadline, so we greatly appreciate your assistance.
Information For All Senior Families
Eligibility for Commencement and Senior Events- Reminder
Attendance and unpaid debt are two of the criteria for commencement and senior events. Seniors with any school debt, any AZW codes, or more than three T codes per semester from 8/25/25 onward are ineligible for Commencement and Senior Events. See all criteria. An eligibility letter went home twice this spring. Our weekly attendance emails will continue to go home on Fridays. Senior Picnic Friday, May 22
The Senior Picnic will take place on Friday, May 22. Seniors will check in between 9:00 and 9:30 at the front tables in the stadium before enjoying a fun morning with activities such as a water slide, games, cornhole, and more.
The senior Picnic is a senior privilege. Students who have not cleared attendance or who have not met grade expectations will not be eligible to participate. Any student who is not eligible will still check in at the front tables in the stadium and will then be directed to a classroom where a teacher will supervise them.
We are looking forward to celebrating our seniors and giving them a fun opportunity to enjoy one of their final days together as the Class of 2026.

Sports Physical Event - Reminder
UCSD is hosting an Inaugural Physical Day at Canyon Hills High School on Saturday 6-13-26 from 8am-12pm. The optional screening fee is $10 (cash only). See additional details in the flyer. If your student plans to play a fall sport, consider attending.
Our Last SR6 Session 2025-26 is Saturday May 23rd - Reminder
There is one SR6 session remaining on 5/23. It will be hosted by Ms. Sajnog (English) and Mr. Garcia (theater).
SR6 (Scripps Ranch 6) is an academic support available to all students. It is a 6th day of school hosted on select Saturdays for four hours, 8am-12pm. A breakfast and lunch meal is available for all students attending Core Academy at no charge. Signing up by the Wednesday prior, and selecting “yes” to breakfast and lunch guarantees it will be available for your student. SR6 is also an avenue for students to recover their attendance (AZTWs in PowerSchool) to remain eligible for school events. View Semester 25-26 SR6 Dates or flyer with all sign up forms.
