Dear Falcon Families,
Our fourth week of school was our hottest yet! We hope everyone is keeping cool during the heatwave. On campus, our Falcons have been in good spirits and continue to work hard, despite the heat. They are reminded, throughout the day, to hydrate and take care of themselves. Thank you for your patience and support as we provide the resources to make our campus as safe and healthy as possible.
If your student has a broken Chromebook, please have them contact Ms. Rohrer in the library; she can offer a day to day replacement or order a new one, as needed. As we near the end of the first six weeks and teachers update progress reports, please encourage your students to seek help in subjects where they might struggle. In addition to a teacher’s tutoring time, students can take advantage of peer tutoring in the library everyday after school. There is an experienced tutor for every subject! All your student has to do is come to the library and see Ms. Smith. She will put them in touch with the appropriate tutor.
As a reminder from last week’s message, the district’s system of delivering progress reports and semester report cards is a digital document delivery system. Please be sure you have (1) verified that the digital document email address is up-to-date in PowerSchool, and (2) ensured that you are opted into digital document delivery. Please see below for more information on how to navigate the Parent/Student Powerschool Portal.
As part of San Diego Unified’s “Free Meals for All Students” initiative, Scripps Ranch will continue to serve both breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria. No student should go hungry; please encourage your student to take advantage of breakfast or lunch if they need a meal during the day.
To be sure your student receives all school and graduating class level updates on events, please remind them to join the Google classroom for their grade and follow the SRHS ASB instagram. The Google classroom gives them access to all the announcements and information needed for their grade level and the ASB instagram includes reminders and updates in real time. Senior families: Please make sure your student books their senior portrait session by visiting KEANESTUDIOS.COM. More information is available in your senior’s Google classroom.
This week’s updates include information about our SRHS school committee ballots, our LCFF parent notifications, and our upcoming (this week!) College and CCTE series (there are three different events!) Please see below. Homecoming is almost here; please remind your students to show their school spirit and check out all the fun events SRHS has to offer.
See below for the latest updates as of 9-8-24.

LCFF Parent Notification
Every year we are required by the State of California to collect income data from our families. This data helps to determine our Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) funding from the state. Here are some important reasons we ask for this information:
-
Some students get fee waivers/reductions for college applications and AP exams, and families may get lower-cost internet service
-
SUN Bucks — (Summer–EBT) provides $40 per month per student for food for June, July, and August 2024 ($120 total). Cards will be issued in the fall.
It is critical that we collect this data from every family to ensure our school receives all the state funding to which it is entitled. Parents need to only fill out the LCFF via one of the options below:
-
Option 1: In the next several weeks, the district will roll out a Survey Monkey link to the LCFF form. The link will be provided via email from [email protected]t via SurveyMonkey.com
-
Option 2: Families will also have the option to complete this form in PowerSchool Parent Portal (Click here to sign into PowerSchool Parent Portal). Families who submitted the LCFF form this past spring will not receive the email.
The LCFF online form is available on the Parent Portal only, it is not on the student’s portal.
If you do not have access to the Parent Portal, please complete the: Scripps Ranch High School Parent Portal Access Request Form to receive an access ID and password for your student(s).
