SRHS Weekly Updates as of 4-21-24
Posted on 04/22/2024

Dear Falcon Families,

This week begins our annual testing season with CAASPP testing starting Tuesday and AP testing beginning on May 6th. Our AP students and teachers are working hard on test preparations and are looking forward to some great scores. Please remind your students that we have a unique testing schedule this week with a minimum day on Monday and block days Tuesday - Friday. During the Tuesday - Friday block days, school will end at the standard time, 3:23pm.

Spring sports playoffs begin in a few weeks so Athletic Director Wilson will post those playoff schedules ASAP on our athletic website https://srfalcons.org/. Best of luck to all of our Spring athletes as they finish off their respective seasons.

In today’s update, I’ve provided information on CAASPP testing, the important LCFF income survey, behavior expectations for seniors, and more. See below for the latest updates as of 4-21-23.

* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

Early Out Modified Monday, April 22

This Monday, April 22nd is a modified Monday with school ending at 2:23pm. During the 2:23 - 3:23 pm time window, teachers will be either (1) offering revision/reassessments for students or (2) will be meeting with their fellow colleagues to collaborate on instructional practices. Those teachers who are offering revision/reassessment opportunities will have communicated with their students. We encourage all students who have scheduled revision/reassessment opportunities to take advantage of this time to hone their learning.

Progress Report Grading Period 4 Ended on Friday, April 19th

This past Friday, April 19th marked the end of the Progress Report 4 (P4) grading period. Teachers will post grades the following week to be available via PowerSchool on Friday, April 26th. These grades are a formative progress report and do not represent a final summative semester grade. The final summative grading period for semester two closes on June 6th.

2024-25 LCFF Income Survey

San Diego Unified is launching the 2024-25 LCFF data collection on April 19 and will be using PowerSchool Parent Portal and SurveyMonkey. Parents may submit a response via either method, and note that an email from “[email protected] via surveymonkey.com” is legitimate. If you have questions, please contact Diana Noroozi at [email protected]

Library Closure

From April 22 through May 17, the library will not be open before, during, and after school due to testing. If your student needs to return a book or has issues with their Chromebook, please have them go to Room 467. Mrs. Rohrer will be able to assist them. After school peer tutoring will be moved to room 555.

CAASPP - State Testing for 11th Graders 4/23- 4/26

Our testing will begin this week on Tuesday through Friday for all 11th grade students. All students should come daily with their district issued chromebooks fully charged and updated along with headphones. Students cannot use personal computers to take the assessments. Schedule this week for all students will be a block schedule with no advisory Tuesday through Friday: Falcon Time Schedule.  11th grade families, please review communication sent out by the district CAASPP Parent Letter. If you have any specific questions or concerns please email Associate Principal Amy Hines [email protected].

Library Requests

Please click the following link to check on outstanding library material: What do you have Checked Out?. All textbooks and novels are due at the end of the school year so they can be checked out the following year. All SDUSD materials have a bar code, but please note, the barcodes could be from other SDUSD schools since we share all materials. There are still a lot of outstanding items from years past so please have students return anything they aren't using as soon as possible to avoid an end of year panic.

Continuing Student Packets
Continuing Student Packets have been distributed through the 3rd period teachers.
Students should return them to their 3rd period teachers by Friday, April 26th.

Senior Attendance Meetings & Recovery Plans

Seniors with any truancy codes (AZTWs) are currently ineligible for prom and the graduation ceremony. These seniors received a pass last week to see their Associate Principal or designee to review attendance and set up a plan for recovery utilizing our recovery opportunities. Seniors needing to recover their attendance can do so via SR6 Saturday session, lunch detention, and peer tutoring after school in the library. See current  Academic Support & Attendance Recovery Opportunities.

Before & After School Tutoring On Hold - Reminder

We are awaiting financial approval to continue before and after school tutoring with teachers. As soon as that opens up we’ll communicate to students via Google Classroom and to parents through my weekly message. Students are still welcome to attend after school peer tutoring in the library Monday-Friday.
