Posted on 04/28/2024

Dear Falcon Families,

This week we finished our annual CAASPP testing. AP testing will begin May 6th. Our AP students continue working hard to prepare and represent the Falcons with some great scores. Please remind your students that we entered the last six weeks of the year. Encourage them to follow up with their teachers if they need tutoring or have questions about their grades.

Athletic Director Wilson has started posting the CIF playoff schedules for our spring sports. Don’t forget to visit the website, then come out to support our Falcons: https://srfalcons.org/. Best of luck to all of our spring athletes as they finish off their respective seasons.

In today’s update, I’ve provided information on AP testing, Continuing Student Packets, the important LCFF income survey, behavior expectations for seniors, and more. See below for the latest updates as of 4-28-23.

SRHS is a best high school 2023-24

I’m excited to announce the US News World Report rated SRHS as a best high school for the 2023-24 school year. We were second in SDUSD and #6 in San Diego. A big thank you to our staff, students and families who work tirelessly to make this high school the amazing school that it is.

CAASPP

We had a successful week of statewide testing. We appreciate all of the students that came to school prepared to show their knowledge on the various assessments. If your student was absent from any of the testing periods we will be holding makeup sessions beginning Monday 4/29 through the end of the week if needed. Students pulled from classes for makeups will be excused from their classes to finish the CAASPP. Please remind your student to bring their district issued Chromebook, charger, and headphones. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Associate Principal, Amy Hines

AP Exams

AP Exams are coming up beginning Monday, May 6th. All students that signed up to take AP Exams have been contacted various times via email to ensure they are logging into College Board. Additional emails were sent this weekend to student school email addresses @sandi.net accounts letting them know: date of test, time for check in, what to bring, and location. Good luck to all of our students taking AP Exams.

SRHS Students for SDUSD School Board - please share with your students

I'm pleased to inform you that three of our own students from Scripps Ranch High School are running for a seat on SDUSD’s school board. It’s an exciting time as their participation highlights the leadership and initiative thriving within our school community. Here are the three SRHS students running for school board. If you click on the link it will take you to their bio and campaign video:

The voting period is scheduled to start on Monday, April 29th at 2 PM and will close on Tuesday, April 30th at 5 PM. Only current SDUSD students can vote. Here is how students can vote (please share with your students):

  1. The company the district has hired to run the election (ElectionBuddy) will send an email directly to students via their sandi student email address when the election opens Monday at 2:00pm

    1. The email will include a link to the student’s individualized ballot

  2. During the election if students have trouble accessing their ballot, they can be directed to [email protected] who will be on call to support until the vote closes Tuesday at 5:00pm.

Please encourage your students to vote!

The following section contains relevant reminders from previous weekly updates

2024-25 LCFF Income Survey

San Diego Unified launched the 2024-25 LCFF data collection on April 19 and will be using PowerSchool Parent Portal and SurveyMonkey. Parents may submit a response via either method, and note that an email from “[email protected] via surveymonkey.com” is legitimate. If you have questions, please contact Diana Noroozi at [email protected]

Library Closure

From April 22 through May 17, the library will not be open before, during, and after school due to testing. If your student needs to return a book or has issues with their Chromebook, please have them go to Room 467. Mrs. Rohrer will be able to assist them. After school peer tutoring will be moved to room 555.

Library Requests

Please click the following link to check on outstanding library material: What do you have Checked Out?. All textbooks and novels are due at the end of the school year so they can be checked out the following year. All SDUSD materials have a barcode, but please note, the barcodes could be from other SDUSD schools since we share all materials. There are still a lot of outstanding items from years past so please have students return anything they aren't using as soon as possible to avoid an end of year panic.
