Dear Falcon Families,

The countdown continues! We have two full weeks left in the school year and lots to do. Final assessments and celebrations are already in the works as we end the year with banquets, award ceremonies, and more. AP test makeups will take place this week; all AP scores will be available at the beginning of July. Remind your students to check their emails for messages from the College Board. Please continue to remind your students to check their grades and follow up with their teachers regarding missing work, make-up work, and tutoring, to ensure they finish the school year strong. 

There are important reminders for senior students this week, so please be sure to take time to read about these updates below. Updates include a message about names in the graduation ceremony, required transcripts for college admission, and more. Remind your students to review the list of events and deadlines for seniors by visiting the links below and checking out the ASB Instagram page. See below for the latest updates as of 5-19-23.

Early Out Modified Monday, May 20

This Monday, May 20 is a modified Monday with school ending at 2:23pm. During the 2:23 - 3:23 pm time window, teachers will be either (1) offering revision/reassessments for students or (2) will be meeting with their fellow colleagues to collaborate on instructional practices. Those teachers who are offering revision/reassessment opportunities will have communicated with their students. We encourage all students who have scheduled revision/reassessment opportunities to take advantage of this time to hone their learning.


Athletics - Physicals for Student Athletes - 2024-2025

San Diego Unified has partnered with UCSD to create a voluntary/optional opportunity for potential student-athletes to receive a $10 athletic physical at San Diego High School on Saturday, June 8th from 8am-12pm. The $10 athletic physical opportunity is for any student who may by trying out for a CIF sport. The opportunity is also available for all sideline and competition cheerleaders. This opportunity is available for any rising 9th grader (current 8th grader) and any high school athlete attending a San Diego Unified high school in 2024-2025.

Senior Families - Say My Name Document

On May 1st the Senior class received a Google doc to fill out details on how they want their name “read out” at graduation. Student answers will be placed on a card the graduate will hand to the counselor. Please remind your student to fill out the Google doc TODAY. Counseling will begin printing out the results very soon. Students can search for “say my name”  or [email protected]  to find the original email sent on May 1st.  Thank you to the 256 Seniors who have completed this task!


Yearbook Distribution

The time is finally here! It’s time for students to pick up their yearbooks and end the year celebrating memories. If your student did not order a yearbook, there is still time. There are 70 left for sale and the last day to purchase through Jostens is May 17, 2024. Go HERE for more information. 


Below, please find the distribution schedule for yearbook pickup: 

Scripps Ranch High School Yearbooks will be distributed on the following dates outside room 501:

  • Seniors only distribution - Monday, May 20th 

  • All grades distribution - Tuesday 5/21 (only lunch and after school), Wednesday 5/22 

  • All students must bring a current 2023-2024 student ID to pick up the yearbook

  • Pickup times: Before school (except for Tuesday), during lunch and after school


AP Exams

We have completed all regularly scheduled AP Exams. If your student has signed up for a late date exam they have been contacted via email for time and location of exam.

Library Closure

From April 22 through May 24, the library will not be open before, during, and after school due to testing. If your student needs to return a book or has issues with their Chromebook, please have them go to Room 467. Mrs. Rohrer will be able to assist them. After school peer tutoring will be moved to room 555.


Visual Arts Festive and Battle of the Bands Event
We are pleased to announce that this year, the 2024 Visual Arts Festival will feature a special Battle of the Bands! This is an incredible event highlighting student creativity and effort taking place in the Scripps Ranch quad on Friday, May 24th. Please spread the word and help us grow our audience as these students have poured their hearts and souls into these works.  There will be films, music, photography, and art! Art and Photography exhibits open at 6pm, Battle of the Bands competition and film screenings begin at 7:30pm. 

The film finalists from both video production and film arts will be on the big screen, while all other films will be presented in viewing rooms surrounding the quad. Come out and support our incredibly talented Falcons! 

Scholarship Opportunity: Bomberos de San Diego - SDUSD

The Bomberos de San Diego Scholarship is currently open to high school seniors with opportunities for four $1000 awards and six $500 awards. Application window closes: June 10, 2024. Questions: [email protected]

Continuing Student Packets

“Continuing Student Packets” were sent home last month through students’ 3rd period teachers. If your student has not turned it in back to the teacher, please have them return it to Mrs. Kish in the counseling office ASAP.


2024-25 LCFF Income Survey

San Diego Unified launched the 2024-25 LCFF data collection on April 19 and will be using PowerSchool Parent Portal and SurveyMonkey. Parents may submit a response via either method, and note that an email from “[email protected] via surveymonkey.com” is legitimate. If you have questions, please contact Diana Noroozi at [email protected]


Library Requests

Please click the following link to check on outstanding library material: What do you have Checked Out?. All textbooks and novels are due at the end of the school year so they can be checked out the following year. All SDUSD materials have a barcode, but please note, the barcodes could be from other SDUSD schools since we share all materials. There are still a lot of outstanding items from years past so please have students return anything they aren't using as soon as possible to avoid an end-of-year panic.
